Noticed SA Schools and SA u19 fast bowler, Lutho Sipamla, wasn't with the Warriors Cubs and I've found out he is with the EP semi-pro team starting their 3-day game tomorrow. I would hope he is still available for SA u19 selection because I think he needs the experience unlike Wiaan Mulder who has slipped straight back into senior cricket and is not available for SA u19 selection.

Warriors disappointed today with a talented team.

Still more to be heard about supposed county interest in Matt Breetzke (pictured) who broke some Graeme Pollock records at Grey PE

The English are picking off our talent which shouldn't be happening. In the next year we are bound to lose even more players andni have a funny suspicion that qouta numbers will be raised again.

Runs for one of the defectors today in Colin Ackermann 81 & Seyibokwe 54. All the Dolphins bowlers chipping in really : WAR 231 (80.4 ov, SSB Magala 5*, CP Savage 1/26) | Live Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Lions in a spot of bother. Parnell with 2 wickets but Mulder surely batting too low even with his bowling work-load and age : LIONS 98/8 (50.2 ov, PWA Mulder 17*, DL Piedt 2/18) | Live Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Hugely frustrating that rain ruined the first day between Titans and Knights with a few Proteas fringe players involved.

Mulder left stranded on 31 after only coming in at number 8. Parnell 4/26

Viljoen has hurt another batsman. This time Puttick. Van Zyl then was dismissed by Viljoen before stumps.

Good to see Savage and Phehlukwayo bowl well today.

But then a collapse was sparked by a fine spell from Andile Phehlukwayo who was returning from a groin injury he suffered in November.

The allrounder managed to extract some reverse swing from the Umgeni End to bowl Seyibokwe with a superb delivery that ripped out his off stump

Suddenly the Warriors’ innings was in ruins as Calvin Savage, who had bowled with pace and good control in his first match for the Dolphins this season, duly finished off the innings.

Before going into this tournament I would have said that Matt Breetzke , Chris Schreuder, Raynard Van Tonder , Jade De Klerk, Akhona Mnyaka, Gerald Coetzee were shoe-ins because they had good u19 School Weeks and were still eligible for 2018 U19 CWC.

Breetzke has backed up u19 School Week performances with the bat but the two Free State stars (Schreuder , Van Tonder) haven't at Cubs after impressive school weeks. To me they were the best 3 bats going into the tournament.
De Klerk has produced with his spin but Gobeni, Molefe, Smith and Moriarty have been impressive to and all qualify for 2018. Gobeni will definitely make the squad as an all-rounder I feel eventhough De Klerk, Smith, Moriarty are SA u19 spinner incumbents.
Mnyaka had a good first game at Cubs after making SA Schools at 17. Coetzee had a good all-round game first up with his pace and batting but injured his back and hasn't played since. Both qualify for 2018.

Remaining batsmen & keeper/batsmen
Jarred Alder , Mitchell Van Buuren (SA u19) have had two decent weeks with the bat but their age may go against them.
Jesse Christensen (SA U19) , Jason Niemand, Sinethemba Qeshile , Jean Du Plessis all qualify for 2018 and still have a chance to make the SA u19 squad with ok performances over both weeks.
Ricardo Vasconcelos (SA u19), Wandile Makwetu (SA u19), Josh Van Heerden (SA u19) have been disappointments.
16 year-old Lions keeper, Jacob miltz, has probably been the find with the bat of Cubs Week.

The seam bowling is interesting. Opening bowlers :
COBRAS : William Sendin (18) , Michael Cohen (18)
WARRIORS : Lutho Sipamla (18) , Akhona Mnyaka (17)
DOLPHINS : Eathan Bosch (18) , Tyron Koen (19)
KNIGHTS : Gerald Coetzee (16) , XXX
LIONS : XXX , XXX
TITANS : XXX , XXX
SA U17 : Thando Ntini (16) , Fraser Jones (16)

Those are the pick of them so I would imagine it would come from them although first change seamers like Tiaan Du Plessis, Siphamandla Krweqe, Reabetswe Mokgoro have done well at the Cubs Week but at this level stats aren't everything and surely the best will be opening the bowling. Of the opening bowlers Sipmala has gone to play mens cricket so probably not available for selection whilst Sendin , Bosch have played SA u19s before but they may look to 2018 qualification with Mnyaka , Coetzee, Ntini, Jones

Didn't expect them to pick Mulder or even Sipamla. 9 of those players are eligible for 2018.

Probably see Christoper Schreuder, Sinethemba Qeshile, Jacob Miltz, Gerald Coetzee (injured) , Thando Ntini and Fraser Jones come into their thoughts before the next world cup.

Wonder if there's logic to playing him at 7 and as the 4th seamer when Steyn comes back (or picking Olivier). Certainly given the presence of de Kock you can probably afford a below average 7, especially with two 8's already in the side.

Trouble is that it'll probably mean that one of du Plessis, Amla, de Villiers or Bavuma have to open (could drop Bavuma but that might affect quotas?).

Maybe an option in the sub-continent. Could take JP's spot so we can play 3 seamers, 2 spinners and QDK at 6 but obviously the balance would be effected like you say. Bavuma would probably have to open considering AB is back and probably not happening.

:D Luckily cricket isn't as bad as the rugby where the Bulls/Sharks can't produce their own but wouldn't surprise me if there is a few offers in for Breetzke and Sipamla.

Certainly going to be interesting looking at contracts down the line.
