yeah, not a lot of turn, rely a lot on batsmen playing for spin and getting lbw etc.

In all seriousness I find it interesting that Vettori averaged well over 30 in FC cricket, but SOK averages low-20s, because I'm sure most people would naturally think that Vettori was better. Obviously Vettori bowled a lot in Tests against very good players which could account for a lot of that difference in average.

Haze was a lot better in Sri Lanka than Ashwin is outside of the WI/subcontinent.

Him in England on the other hand....those conditions should've suited him perfectly, the 3rd and 4th Tests were amongst the worst he's bowled.

Hazlewood was only slightly less effective there than in Australia, not quite the same as the difference between Ashwin in helpful conditions vs normal conditions, which was enormous

Yeah, but it's relatively easier for fast bowlers to maintain relatively decent individual stats when their team is getting hammered. Just like it's easier for spinners to pile up a huge number of 5-ers.

Thats exactly how pacers can protect their stats when its not going well. As the lead spinner, the captain has no choice but to give you a large chunk of the overs.

Re: Hazlewood/McGrath comparisons, McGrath's greatness was that he took wickets in all countries and all conditions. Hazlewood has generally been excellent in Oz conditions but needs to improve in Asia from his last tour there. I'd be surprised if he didn't do better in Rngkand next tour than he did in 2015.
