Especially when you're arguing against footballing lightweights like the dozen or so top tier managers who have constantly picked Milner throughout his career,
To say nothing of those who thought Thierry Henry was quite good too.

The endless Wenger v Ferguson arguments between Roseboy and Marc were another "highlight".

Not to mention Rose's painful insistence that Dong Fangzhou was not signed just to sell shirts.

I thought I'd hate seeing BFS back, but it's always fun to see him look pissed off on the bench.

It was an alright goal from Giroud I suppose, I'll give him 8 ollie watkins out of 10.

No league game for us now until the 21st - so I'll be out of my own thread for a while I suspect

got to say the conference fixtures seem pretty odd this year, all those mid-week matches early in the season, when the attendances will be mashed, and yet not a decent xmas/new year programme (comparative for lower leagues) just seems ****ing stupid.

There is a poster on Exeweb that gained a piece in the local rag,by saying he had a way of beating the bookies this season, by just backing City to win 4-1 each game, the odds are really high, but he kept backing big, and it eventually came in at about 100-1. I'm pretty sceptical about this crap, so when he won once, I thought well you may have dragged yourself into profit this time, but so what? Anyway today means he's probably having a very good year.

Obviously if you were backing a top team this wouldn't work as I guess it would be about 25-1, but maybe it could work through the lower division teams?
It would have been great if you decided to do this after Christmas with Spurs. Back to back 4-1 wins.

The early season midweek schedule was done last season and I believe is common place - been a while since you were down here I guess - but that part actually made sense when explained to me, as the reasoning is apparently to get as many games in before the bad weather and FA Trophy combine to **** up the schedule

But that just makes the lack of Christmas footy all the more bizarre. There's no programme on Jan 14 because of the trophy, I'd wager most games on Feb 4 will be off for the same reason. A few games, including ours, are off next sat because of the FA Cup. Instead of lots of rearranged games, a packed Xmas scheduled something like this would have made sense:

Boxing Day
28th Dec evening game
New Year's Eve
Bank holiday Monday

Brutal but so what, half the teams in the division will be Tuesday-Saturday throughout March and April when the postponed due to weather and trophy games are rescheduled. Could have done it now when attendances would have been better and the part timers wouldn't have needed time off work. And you could even have done two double headers rather than just the Boxing Day/new year one.

Oh well. Tinpot league gets a tinpot schedule.

See I think a lack of football in January makes a bit of sense; people are skint after Christmas so can't afford to attend many games in January, particularly as there's so much football on over the festive period. Would be good for the players as well to get a break after such an intense schedule.

All well and good but it's not a planned break, so just means you wind up with late season congestion. In a league where half the teams are part time this is a perfect period to have extra games. Plus for some godforsaken reason the 'so much football on over the festive period' hasn't applied in the conference, we've just played on Boxing Day and New Year's Day

HFB's goal:

Damn.
WAG.

On a related note, I quite enjoyed the performance of Iwobi yesterday. He's obviously still fairly unpolished, but what is really standing out to me is that it seems he has a great eye for a pass. There's something about him as a player I really quite like just generally too. Not sure what it is, but there's something sort of straightforward about him that appeals to me in the same way Ray Parlour did.
