Yeah, it was decidedly underwhelming. Forced me into watching Newcastle vs Sheff Wed this evening, which was 90 mins of my life that I will never get back.

Oh well, always good to see Newcastle lose, but Sheff Wed are obviously a team of ****s. Terrible quality throughout though, not a great advert for the Championship.
The Championship is a terrible league. Standard is diabolical.

One positive aspect of Conte owning everyone is that it kills that dumb idea that Mourinho leaves clubs in a chaotic and irredeemable mess.

Also kills the myth, that he himself tried to fabricate, that he made the 14/15 squad play at a level that wasn't their actual level.

There was an article in the Guardian yesterday making an argument for Newcastle being the best ever Championship team.

I watched this match as well and they looked utter ****
Guardian obviously haven't actually watched any Newcastle matches this season. Still have a bog standard defence. Particularly weird comment actually since our team from our last Championship season was far better than this one.

Benitez has us playing efficiently, with every move going through Shelvey and ending up with Gayle, but we're not a very adaptable team, meaning if the opposition stifle those two players we have very little to offer. Shelvey's been increds to be fair to him.

Also Newcastle fans tend to ride the wave of success far too easily, this club still has a rotten core while Mike Ashley's around. Benitez is a godsend but it's impossible to be hopeful of any long-term stability.

Yeah I don"t think I have seen any really good sides this year but no way is it terrible. It is all relative I suppose but there are plenty of good players and some hugely well supported clubs. The Newcastle being the best side in the Championship has always just been based on who they are rather than performance, have lost plenty of games this season.

Just realised that Chelsea's winning streak is as many wins as they had in their entire league season last year. They're only four points off their point total as well.

Conte has 48 wins in his last 56 league matches.
