Rather odd that I'm the complete opposite. I've been championing his case for being ATG for ages now and think he's still underappreciated as a batsman, but also think he's a ****ing unprofessional, childish douchebag. His conduct when it comes to Pakistan's odi team selection has been embarrassing.
I'm more leaning this way. Have to say I'm a bit confused as to why everyone seems to rate him as an amazingly nice bloke. Sure he's not outright terrible but he's definitely nothing special, and he's had some very whiny, cringey moments behavior-wise in the past.

You have a point about the odd dick-ish reaction. I recall one when he was in-explicitly dropped from all forms a few years ago, but I always put that down to the horribly political & petty PCB & their uncanny ability to bring the worst out of anyone.

He does strike of being a genuinely nice guy, & having read about what he does for certain charities makes him even more so for me.

Yeah an ATG test batsman but his tantrums when he was dropped from the ODI side over the years were pretty dire.

Could be a blessing in disguise for Pakistan that. I expect Azam to play more aggressively.

This is getting interesting

Sides who start so well in 4th innings chases almost never finish them off though. Its just one of those things.

Sami Aslam has 6 tests fifties in his first 16 innings, yet an average below 40.
Yeah, they almost never happen. But if you're going for one, there are worse places than NZ to have a crack. Pitches seem to be at their best for batting on day 4 and 5 over there.

wagner looking in effective as usual
Where does the 'as usual' come into it? His 'usual' in the last 12 months has been getting 39 wickets @ 22.

'Unconventional' might be an adjective that works, but not 'ineffective'. The one thing you can say about Wagner's bowling is he's effective.

16 overs to the new ball, NZ need to set defensive fields until it becomes available.

Can anyone confirm if cricinfo's 36 overs remaining is correct?

If so we're down to a RRR of 6.14

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
There's always a one day equation that people think about when it comes to chases like these, forgetting that when it comes down to it, the fielding side can just put everyone back and have the bowler bowl ODI wides to prevent scoring (see also, Australia vs New Zealand, Brisbane 2001).

So basically, they'll need a blinder innings + Kane to keep an aggressive field set + some atrocious bowling to get a win.

I think it is, but given current over-rates there might be more in there? Even so it's gonna be tough. Need to keep things defensive until the new ball.

McGrath pissed me off so much that day with his wide full deliveries outside off towards the end. But couldn't blame him.

Here's the scorecard for anyone wondering what we're banging on about. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/current/match/63953.html

Grrrr. Yeah. I can still remember Bill Lawry raving on about what incredible bowling it was. And Craig McMillan taking up a stance about a foot outside off-stump.
