I reckon the declaration could have backfired, but also the only way they could have won the game. The pitch has eased out in the last 2 days and they needed to dangle the carrot if they wanted to have a chance of winning. Especially with Boult injured. Henry looks pretty harmless.

NZ have the series won tho. Pak need to win the game not them.

How does it affect ranking points again? Do they get significantly more for a 2-0 than a 1-0?

It was but in his defence he had a disgraceful bowling attack and India had the lead to win a series in NZ after 40 whatever years so kinda understandable.

We had them 8 down at close of play and about 350 short. That one was certainly a case where we can criticize the captain for declaring too conservatively.

Nice hook shots there. Southee needs to leave the consecutive short stuff to Waggers, especially with the new ball. 1 to keep them honest once in a while is good, but get it up & swinging.

I don't disagree it was conservative but with garbage bowlers like Munaf Patel and Ishant Sharma in the team I guess he felt the need to remove even the freak possibility of something happening. Even McCullum 2014 was so unlikely that it was inconceivable.
