Yeah Europa league can be a drag, but ultimately Champions League football is essential and at the moment its hard to see them qualifying for the Champions League by getting in the top 4.

Beggars can't be choosers etc.
If you think we have a better chance of qualifying through Europa than top 4 you should be gambling hard. We're 5/2 to finish top four and 5/1 to win the Europa.

I wouldn't take either but imo the Europa price is by far the worse deal. I don't think we can get over the total indifference of the fans and players towards the competition. The atmosphere on Thursday nights is one of mild embarrassment to be there.

Speaking of Pardew, he has got to be gone surely, that game yesterday looked liked such a bad game for a 5-4.
You'd hope so. The Selhurst faithful are a pretty forgiving bunch, but we're talking almost a calendar year of dire results in the league now, and almost all of the boards are full of CPers calling for his head. Plus, of course, the performances are actually getting worse. If the next couple of games go badly, especially against the sort of sides against whom we really should do something, then surely he's a gonner. We're all very aware that Allardice is currently available, and some ability to defend would be a welcome improvement. Given that I think he's probably have better players at his disposal than was the case at Sunderland, it's not unreasonable to expect him to get us out of this before it's too late.

Same.

In fact, I have steadily been watching football less and less over the last 2 years for two main reasons:

1. The diving has gotten ridiculous and the refs are basically there to stroke the egos of very rich young men

2. Coverage in the UK is fragmented all over the place and I'm not one for looking for shoddy internet streams on a match by match basis
Has the diving really got any worse the last two years? Anyway these are not the reasons I am watching less, just had stuff on at weekends and am probably just a little more selective than I used to be.

I don't think the diving has got noticeably worse. I don't think many of the things I find unsavoury about the game (e.g. how it is dripping in money) have got worse over the last few years actually. But I think I do tend to notice some of these things a lot more.

The fragmented coverage irks me though. Having to shell out for Sky and BT is a huge turn off, as is the prospect of relying on dodgy streams. Add this all up and the end result is that I'd rather do something else with my evenings/weekends more often than not.

Team selection shows it's not being treated like a worthless cup but playing strong teams on Thursday is hurting the league. JM is having an each way bet on both but I don't think we have the squad for that. So he's risking both with the probability of neither right now.

Yeah I think this has been his biggest mistake. Either that or leaving out Mkhitaryan, but at least with that decision there could have been something we don't know about.

It's hilarious trying to see Mourinho trying to convince people that Man Utd. haven't got the results their performances deserve. Coming from him, the ultimate pragmatist, who's scoffed at the notion of attractive football all his life and put results above everything else.

Norwood's on Fire
Went to Gateshead last night, no wonder Scaly is so grumpy it's bloody cold up there. Attendance was said to be 750 or so, 280 TRFC, must admit I didn't think there were 500 home fans. I can't think of a Tranmere match I've been to before with such a low attendance, save for pre season friendlies and reserve games. Promotion is an absolute bloody must

Thankfully Micky Mellon has us right on course. P9 W7 D2

FFA Cup was eventful and the A-League has been mint this season. Pretty sure its on BT if you're so inclined.

Cazorla set for achilles surgery. The end is nigh.
He's slipped so seamlessly into Rosicky's role.

I wonder how good his career would have been if someone had realised sooner what he can do from deep. Seems to have landed there just as his legs were going, but from his performances when fit it really looks like he could have gone down the Pirlo/Modric route.
