Just how deep does England's Test XI bat? They have Adil Rashid with 10 FC tons, Ben Stokes with 12 tons (and 4 in Tests), Stuart Broad with one century (in a Test match) and 19 50s (with 10 in Tests), Zafar Ansari with three FC tons and 15 FC 50s and Anderson having played long enough to be a decent #11. These are not tailenders by any means.

Yeah, our lower order has been a great asset as of late. Even on a relatively lean day for our last 4 such as today, they far from failed. I shudder to think how few matches we'd have won recently if we had a weak tail.

He used two **** shots from Root and F*ckett and a ball missing leg stump with Broad.

No point him bowling at all if injured. This game is gone already. Only questions now are when Kohli declares and do we take it to day 5 or not?

The lower order has shown how bad England's top order's performance was. Absolutely nothing in the pitch imo and England can still draw this game if India don't leave them more than a day to get through.

For me it comes down to 2nd dig here. If he shows ability to stick in and not get bowled by a straight one that turns an inch then maybe deserves a go next time.

They probably won't need anywhere near that many if the pitch keeps deteriorating. No reason not to set it, though, plenty enough time.

No need for any great hurry regarding run-scoring. Last thing we want to do is gift them cheap wickets in pursuit of runs. Runs will come at a decent rate as long as they occupy the crease. Lots of time to go in the match.
