He certainly adds something else to the NZ attack. If they need someone to do the 'hard' overs into the wind but just run in and give it their all, he's the man. In decent form with the ball aswell, surely makes the XI for the first Test.

Think this will be a really intriguing mini-series, can NZ bounce back from previous disappointing series in South Africa and India and play with that freedom in more familiar surroundings ? Can Pakistan make a real case to become Number 1 in the world again ? Looking forward to it, providing the weather doesn't play a major part!

Normally I'd complain, however this is really a bonus series squeezed into a summer that has three touring sides rather than the usual two, with tests against Bangladesh and South Africa as well as a brief ODI series in Australia. That on top of playing five away tests in recent months; more than usually scheduled leading into the home summer. Lots of test cricket

Anyway, all eyes on weather.

Yup, she's raining steadily atm, they've said the groundsmen will need 2 hours from whatever time it stops. It's generally a good draining ground.

IMO it would be premature to give up on the whole day right now. The forecast is a little better later in the day, and as Zinzan said, it drains pretty well. So hopefully they'll just wait and see. Sounds like an early lunch will be called.
