I only brought up Mathews because he came on and took 2 wickets with mediums in a match where mr_mister felt that spin was unfairly dominating.Collingwood best in Tests are 3fer 30 odd and he took his wickets at 60. Not convinced he is a great counterpoint
Pardon?Steven Smith: We didn't excite well enough with the ball or in the field today.
A part time seamer like Ponting is almost never going to get conditions in his favour and if he did, would have at least 3 and possibly 4 frontline options ahead of him in the queue.both more in the batting AR class and have bucketloads of wickets compared to the names I mentioned
Throw some more names at me in the vein of Ricky Ponting
That's why he's the best franchise T20 bowler on current form. Just came out of nowhere.I can see how Zampa averages 50 in FC cricket, but loopy, gently turning leg breaks are surprisingly effective in this form.
Having said that, didn't Jonathan Trott take a First Class 7for a few years ago?A part time seamer like Ponting is almost never going to get conditions in his favour and if he did, would have at least 3 and possibly 4 frontline options ahead of him in the queue.
Whereas if a decent part time spinner gets good bowling conditions he'll probably only have 1 or 2 players competing with him and if you offer something different (Clarke being a SLA offers something different if you've picked Warne and Lyon).
Pretty sure Clarke's 6for came when Australia's team balance was 3 seamers to Hauritz, so as soon as they worked out it was a bunsen Clarke was going to get loads of overs. It would be borderline incompetence for a similar situation to arise for Ponting.
Hasn't really played enough to be considered at that level imo.isnt Bailey meant to be an ODI ATG
That doesn't have much to do with the 2015 WC win tho.pffft we've produced 3 of the best 10 spinners OAT
Least Swann waited until the ashes series was mathematically over before he quit....
It would have made more sense for him not to come to SA for an arbitrary LO series...
That is because there are rougly 2-3 times more seamers in a team and wickets get distributed among them in helpful conditions.Lol no think how much more often that happens with part-time spinners though. Clarke, Border, North, Katich, Bevan all have test 6 fers. How many does Brett Lee or Andrew Flintoff have?
He clearly needs to start preparing for the 2019 WCIt would have made more sense for him not to come to SA for an arbitrary LO series...
Agree with everything but just saying Clarke only bowled 6 overs when he took his 6 forPretty sure Clarke's 6for came when Australia's team balance was 3 seamers to Hauritz, so as soon as they worked out it was a bunsen Clarke was going to get loads of overs
