Warne made a point at close of play yesterday about how quite a few slip fielders learn the art at Test level rather than First Class level and it got me asking about Cook and where he'd fielded prior to captaining. There seems to be this convention that the captain fields at 1st slip regardless of whether he's any good at it.

Certainly don't remember Ponting being at slip much in 2005.
Cook is such an unnatural looking slips fielder. He's obviously ok at it, but I cringe inside whenever I see his catching technique.

sure smith has dropped a few sitters this series but lets be honest its him, warner and then daylight in terms of fielding quality in this side. he's still one of the best in the world

Starting to look like Burns could be gone

Although since we tend to play a batsman short I don't see why Burns couldn't just come back in for M Marsh or Holland. There's no reason Burns, Khawaja and Smarsh couldn't all play in the top 6

Except for the fact they're all shite.

This has been very good from these two. Who'd have thought pulling your head in and waiting for the bad ball might be the way to go?

fair play to smarsh, this has definitely been the easiest of the three pitches to bat on but regardless thats a top knock

I mean yeah it's fun to bag Marsh, but I genuinely hope that he can string a few years of solid test cricket together until he retires cause he's really good to watch.
