Norwood's on Fire
Probably because he had a point. That's what I always think when these token fines are given out.Just caught up on the news regarding Hales. Only 15 per cent fine? That's ludicrous.

The 2011 side had virtually everyone at close to their peak, although I think I would pick 2016 Anderson over his 2011 self.Given that we're not interested in catching anything, Pakistan must fancy their chances of a decent first innings lead on this surface. Makes the pre-match talk about this side being more talented than the 2011 version look rather premature.
I'd pick Vince over Pietersen just to piss Piers Morgan off.The 2011 side had virtually everyone at close to their peak, although I think I would pick 2016 Anderson over his 2011 self.
Wasn't Collingwood really in the side that got them to no.1 instead of Morgan?I'd pick Vince over Pietersen just to piss Piers Morgan off.
Any of Stokes/Woakes/Bairstow/Ali can have Morgan's place too in terms of who'd make the 2011 side versus this one.
He retired after the ashes win away then we went number 1 that summer with Morgan in.Wasn't Collingwood really in the side that got them to no.1 instead of Morgan?
Ah ok, It was handled horribly the way he was cast aside in all formats, he didn't get a call or anything if I remember rightly found out by the media. He retired after the ashes win away then we went number 1 that summer with Morgan in.
I'd have Woakes over BresnanEngland 2011/2016 XI
1. Cook
2. Strauss*
3. Trott
4. KP
5. Root
6. Stokes
7. Prior +
8. Woakes/Bresnan
9. Broad
10. Swann
11. Anderson
5 old guard, 2 new guys, 3 constants and 1 I can't decide.
Bresnan in general and 2011 Bresnan are two different beasts really.I think Woakes is significantly better in both disciplines than Bresnan, but Bresnan actually did it at Test level for more than one summer. He was a beast in that 2011 India series (154 @ 77, 16 @ 16.31), and a genuinely good Test option outside of that. Woakes is basically having his version of that series now, but has nothing outside of it.
Bresnan was fine until the elbow injury, after that he was pretty useless but they gave him a chance.Bresnan in general and 2011 Bresnan are two different beasts really.
