This isn't a one time thing though. He's consistently been below par in the subcontinent—less because he can't take wickets but he just can't seem to maintain control, and it makes the captain's life impossible. Gets milked too easily. That's not necessarily right, because Lyon's style is suited to bouncy wickets (i.e. Aus). It's Holland who's been really disappointing.
Secondly, his best innings figures were taken India, so it's not like he never performs there.
This gets overplayed too much. He got dropped in India, when he frankly looked horrendous in the first match, and later that year for Agar when Lehmann took over because Lehmann wanted to make bad decisions, but it's not happened any other time as far as I remember. To be fair to him, every time he's looked below average they've dropped him immediately and he's never had a chance to actually improve. I think it was in the UAE that this was quite apparent. Had one poor test in which Aus were trounced and he was dropped immediately for a random leggie IIRC.

Yeah while Lyon wasn't the reason we lost the game....him going at 4 an over can't have helped. Had to bowl Starc and Hazlewood far more than what we would've liked. This isn't a one time thing though. What was the incident though? I just read about it on Twitter. Can someone provide a descriptionEvidence tends to suggest he's right, but still pretty ****y
For a offie who gets bounce, he gets swept a hell of a lot with no risk.Yeah while Lyon wasn't the reason we lost the game....him going at 4 an over can't have helped. Had to bowl Starc and Hazlewood far more than what we would've liked.
Lyon? He played both tests in UAE. SOK was dropped for Starc in the third test.To be fair to him, every time he's looked below average they've dropped him immediately and he's never had a chance to actually improve. You will still thrash teams at home though. Going through a rough trot away.Australian cricket is dead.
how many people will blame the BBL over the next weekAustralian cricket is dead.
Australian cricket starts in November and ends in January. So yes you are right..but it will rise again come November. Massive double centuries coming.Australian cricket is dead.
oh yeah I remember thinking that was unfair on SOK tooLyon? He played both tests in UAE. SOK was dropped for Starc in the third test.
You mean second test? God that was an awful series.Lyon? He played both tests in UAE. SOK was dropped for Starc in the third test.
I'd say it's because he doesn't skid the ball on straight often, or vary his pace much. It's all 88 kph. He needs a proper straight ball and to vary his pace and trajectory more in the SC. Like how Herath bowls some more round arm or Ashwin's bunch of variations. His strategy works fine in Aus though.Spark said:For a offie who gets bounce, he gets swept a hell of a lot with no risk.
out of the entire team only three of them played meaningful bbl stints last season and it's the spinnershow many people will blame the BBL over the next week

Blame CA for scheduling international cricket during the summer's premier event.how many people will blame the BBL over the next week
Yeah agreed. Dunno why he hasn't developed a proper arm ball like Swann did.You mean second test? God that was an awful series.
