Already some spin here, but looks a decent pitch. Would think 350 would be their aim, maybe 325 after the early wickets.

Perera not wearing his cap

I don't mind the guy, but someone should honestly shoot him for that.

As captain, I would always bowl myself for the last over before a break in play, because the batsman is usually looking to dig in. That way, even though I was a **** bowler, my economy rate would usually be good, and very occasionally I'd jag a wicket.

Pretty strong recovery that from the Lankans. Some good turn from Holland though, we've been bowling a lot better in the last 10 or so overs. Pitch looks pretty dead although there's a bit of turn there so we'll probably make it look like a minefield.

Decent session for SL. However, if Aus can strike a couple out after lunch they are right back in this. Not quite sure what Mitch Marsh adds in sub con conditions.

'The Chauffeur' James Faulkner has a better FC average with bat and ball. Just sayin...

Reminds me of the time Ray Illingworth did exactly that in a county match when Javed Miandad was batting. Problem was that, unbeknown to Illy, he'd managed to severely upset Javed with something he'd said previously. Outcome was that Javed smashed him to all parts in that over, leaving Illy wondering wtf was going on.

Anyway, back to the test match.

Decent recovery from these two..they need to dig in and hopefully still be batting at the end of the day..we need to change the opening partnership as they are just walking wickets.

aus bowled with exclusively pacers for the first nine overs, then four of the next eight were pacers too
