Obviously Woakes is having a massive purple patch and is going to regress a little, but thoroughly pleased he has had some success. Not bad for Jon Lewis with a better haircut and some lower order runs

Well many of us said it after Pakistan were ****-a-hoop after the first Test that in a 4 match series, that England were still likely to come back and win it 3-1. So no great surprise this Test is going the way it is.

Went out at lunch today so just stuck the channel 5 highlights on to catch some more of this Root magic. What a champ. We were all saying he needed a score, I think we can just about accept his response

We all talk about the fact that Cook's run tally could look scary huge when he retires, but fmd, if Root remains injury free, he's going to destroy some records too. Amazing how good he is at 25.

I was looking up all round series records and no one has reached 250 runs + 20 wickets in a series since Flintoff in 2005 Ashes. Woakes might not have enough opportunities with the bat, but it's a target to follow. By the way, only Hadlee has achieved this in a 4 Test series (of course some others may have reached the target inside 4 Tests, but the series was 5).

Can he really get much better? He's still about 3 years away from what most would say is just the start of a batsman's prime, isn't it around 28-34 when they're in there prime? He already has around 5 great innings where he made batting look easy while others looked like they were batting on a minefield.

No idea what this 2011 series you people are referring to is. Pretty sure there was only a 3 match series between England and Sri Lanka that English cricket season.

This is very India 2014 isn't it. Win at Lords and crap yourself the rest of the series. Still 2 to go of course but this doesn't inspire confidence.

The truth is, we suck in London and dominate outside it. Need to start limiting London to one test a year. To hell with the home of cricket, let's win more matches.
