The Brock mania match was the biggest culprit to his lost momentum. Him losing wasn't even the problem. In fact I was against him beating Brock since I felt a Brock loss should be saved for someone else. They easily could've done the match in a way that made him look fantastic in defeat but they screwed it up.

He either needs to go heel or get the mitb. Doing both would probably be perfect.

Brock loss definitely hurt because people expected so much more. Heck, I reckon it hurt Brock too.

Actually, scratch that. I reckon him losing to Roman in 7 minutes hurt him more than the Brock loss.
And like the Brock match should have been such an easy match to book, but both were so emphatic and underwhelming, it really made the guy look so beneath them, those big match losses are hard to recover him unfortunately.

Yeah, agreed. His brief run with HHH didn't help things either, since it was clear that he was just being fed to him. Obvious fodder challenger was obvious. At any other time this might have been ok, but he was heading into a supposedly very big WM match at the time, and the whole thing just basically screamed "this guy is not top bracket".

I remember posting at the time that the worst possible result for Dean would be him taking huge bumps every week, selling the feud, only to lose meekly to Brock.

Shouldn't have expected better though and don't know where they go to revive him.

I'm beginning to get concerned about AJ as well, come to think of it. In general terms, and on paper, the E has handled him very well since he's come on board. But he's lost 3 PPV matches on the spin now, and lost clean on RAW the other night as well in another fairly big match. If this is all leading to something planned then fine, but it's making me nervous.

funnily enough....

WWE Officials Believed That The Dean Ambrose Vs. Brock Lesnar Feud Would ?Really Get Ambrose Over?

and they didn't need to do much else. but, you know, they did have to take it to the 'streets' and I don't think they left the ring for more than a minute...? it was the time to transition brock away from his set routine. instead they doubled down on it. i know brock's thing is to turn up, do as little as possible and leave, but the way that match was set up hurt them both.

Finally.

If they let Ward write it and give him a decent enough roster to try and emulate what Heyman did* at the start of the previous brand split, this could be something special.

* Maybe no listening in on conference calls, though.

Looking at this I guess the writing has been on the wall since Shane's return. Lots of potential.

Hoo boy here's what happened on Smackdown

AJ Styles is interviewed backstage and asked what's next. He simply says he doesn't know and walks off
Pretty much exactly what Sting said after losing to hhh

Sigh. Does seem to be headed down the classic "not a WWE original" road of "paying dues". I get that and all, and think it's even understandable to a certain extent, but if it ends up ruining AJ then it'll be beyond dire. The guy is pretty much the greatest pro wrestler in the world right now, but they're apparently willing to cut their nose off to spite their face over him. Just stupid.

i'm worried mainly because the club isn't over, so if AJ isn't going for any of the titles, it figures he'll probably be in some sort of Club related stuff, but because they ain't over and he's been the star of the last two main events it's gonna probably disappoint.....

(oh and wwe isn't so good at doing interesting non title matches during regular programming)
