Excellent performance from UAE, excellent bowling from Amjad. They were mildly impressive in WC 2015 and in a year's time, there have progressed more. This is why we need these teams to play more and more.

The Manzoor selection was seriously, seriously weird. He didn't get selected for a single PSL game -- I'm not even sure he got a contract! -- but he's straight into the T20I side on the back of that somehow. I have no words to describe how little sense it all made. Hopefully he's gone for good now.

If he's to play any format it should probably be ODIs, but he's arguably too similar to Azhar for even that to work at the moment.

Sami's limited overs career hasn't been that bad. He was just too loose for Test cricket; too many days where he'll take 0/100 off 22 overs. The fact that he managed to average 50+ and not just be a standard failure averaging 37-42 is a bit of a mystery to me though.

Isn't Sami one of those bowlers who gets massively under-rated in ODIs because of how shite he is with a red ball?

Manzoor was not picked by any team during the PSL draft to begin with. So he was never part of PSL. His selection has nothing to do with PSL, but more on the back of his LA form in domestic cricket. He scored three hundreds, 1 against England Lions and 2 in the recently concluded domestic ODI tournament.
This selection only reflects the hackneyed and panic stricken thinking of the selectors. That they had lost patience with Shehzad was known to all, but they are not willing to find players worth investing in. They go through scorecards and pick the guy who scored a hundred. This is not the job of a selector. Even I can do that.

They need to be investing in guys like Babar Azam and Sami Aslam. They have picked him in the ODI team but they need to really invest in him the way India invested in Rohit Sharma. Azam is an opener and he can solve the opening problem, but no one seems to realize these things and think long term.

Rubel was not given a contract. He bowled well against South Africa, the last time BD played ODIs and then never played against Zimbabwe. What's going on here?
Did he have a fall out with the board?

On Rubel:

Bangladesh has dropped paceman Rubel Hossain from its list of contracted players after accusing him of failing to follow instructions to help him recover from injury.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has asked the 26-year-old to explain why he failed to follow the guidelines drawn up by the team physio to hasten his recovery from a calf injury.

"We've told Rubel we will reconsider reinstating him in the national contract only after he gives a satisfactory answer to our notice," board spokesman Jalal Yunus told AFP on Tuesday.

Bangladesh should still beat Pakistan providing they can handle Amir. With Mustafizur gone, they definitely need to score over 160 to stand a good chance of winning. Umar and Afridi are obstacles of the bat. It will be close, but still pin my hopes up on Bangladesh, and get another win over one of those "top 8" sides. Just admit Bangladesh Cricket has risen now.

A lot of people ( I agree not all) have been saying that for a long time now. But gloating like this over and over again will help turn people off though.
