Pretty clear that the Australian bowlers have got far more from the wicket than NZ all throughout the series. Both first and second innings.

Williamson's strike rate in his test knocks against Australia have plummeted since his hundred in Perth. Credit has to go the the bowlers and captaincy I think, they've really worked out his scoring zones and shut them down.

Indeed. He needs to start driving the full ones.

Australia doing well here, but it's not too different from the first hour yesterday when Burns and Smith were having a difficult time. If these two can get through, runs will come easier with the older ball as the bowlers tire. These two have done well to get through good Hazlewood and Marsh spells already.

Not Terrible
A few posters seem to be forgetting that the first session for Australia was pretty hardgoing. It was the second session with the slightly older ball that they really dug in.

I suspect Australia will bowl significantly better than us with the older ball but if these two can grind out another 10-15 overs we should be able to start to cash in. Though you do have Lyon.

pretty unlucky for latham but not a lot he could do considering the kiwi's lost the toss

Hopefully Latham can make his regular score of 40 something here.
Well he did his role of seeing off the new ball. He needs to kick it up a gear after 20 overs.

We are still in this if Nicholls can get a fluke 80.

Nicholls is our best hope as they don't know him.

There's so much in this deck that everyone is getting out to half trackers. What a strange(TM) day's cricket.

That last delivery was reminiscent of the time Patto almost got Jesse for a hat-trick.
