He was **** today. Has not been **** every time he has bowled in Asutralia.
not sure if srsHaha nah there's a big difference between being crap, and just being steady because there's no assistance. Most good fast bowlers don't run through lineups in ODIs when there's no assistance for them either.
No-one expects him to take 6/40 though ffs. If he'd taken 1/48 off 10 here with the wicket coming in his first spell I think India would've won, or at least had a serious chance of winning. Today wasn't an example of "herr derr Ashwin sucks in Australia"; it was an example of Ashwin rocking up and bowling much worse than he usually does. No-one (other than perhaps ***** ) actually thinks he can run through Australia on a pitch like this, but if he bowled as well as he usually does then he would've done a good job in a defence of 300+.
lol wut I'm trying to defend him. He's never going to be taking 6-40 in Australia and there's nothing wrong with that.
let's take this slowHe was **** today. Has not been **** every time he has bowled in Asutralia.
gonna have to refer you back to my last post. Not sure what your point is, certainly not relevant.No-one expects him to take 6/40 though ffs. I think your posting is just all over the place. Why compare to Lyon? Why random bring Tests into it? Why try to make a point that no-one would actually disagree with anyway?not sure if srs
I never said he was crap. I swear you're just reading what you want to read.
"being steady because there's no assistance" is exactly what I'm saying
edit: maybe I did say he was **** a couple of posts ago actually, can't remember lol
double edit: no I didn't, false alarm
That's why we're down to agenda-driven opportunism. "Oh Ashwin bowled **** today, perfect time to lay the boot in about how I think he's actually not very good and that Lyon is a boss."gonna have to refer you back to my last post. Not sure what your point is, certainly not relevant.
It's almost as if you think I'm saying that the way he bowled today is the best he will ever be capable of bowling in Australian conditions, which is a very bizarre inference
huh. Why does everything someone says have to be something that people disagree with? This is what's so confusing, I make a simple, unambiguous statement that should be pretty obvious and non-controversial and people read into posts and make strange assumptions that you are somehow trying to put down their favourite player or something.I think your posting is just all over the place. Why compare to Lyon? Why random bring Tests into it? Why try to make a point that no-one would actually disagree with anyway?
Ashwin plays a lot of ODIs on flat wickets that offer him nothing, and he bowls well on them anyway. He can build pressure, force batsmen into mistakes etc. He's not a 'threat' as such but with batsmen trying to score against him he's effective at both nullifying them and dismissing them if they keep going at him. That's what ODI bowling is about 90% of the time for all bowlers, and he's good at it, even on flat decks.
He hasn't found a way to be threatening in Tests on pitches with nothing in them for him so far, but that's true of most bowlers anyway, and also entirely irrelevant to this goddamn ODI series.
If this was your point then the timing of your post made it extremely confusing.let's take this slow
- I never said he's "been **** every time he has bowled in Asutralia"
- I said he is getting a lot less assistance and is not used to it hence his results not the same as in other conditions
that's pretty much it, been some bizarre inferences made other than that tbh
lol I said myself I don't think Lyon is anywhere near as good as AshwinThat's why we're down to agenda-driven opportunism. "Oh Ashwin bowled **** today, perfect time to lay the boot in about how I think he's actually not very good and that Lyon is a boss."
I wouldn't have thought so at all tbhIf this was your point then the timing of your post made it extremely confusing.
When someone bowls **** and then you immediately. straight after the game, make a point about why you don't think they're as effective in the sort of conditions they just bowled in, then people are going to infer that those two things are related.
then what's their excuse?
they're just ****?
This is the no, 1 and no. 6 bowlers in the world
He's "been ****" every time he's come to Australia. Can't just be that he's happened to "have a shocker" every game.
Whether it's the lack of help from conditions that leads him to bowl **** for whatever reason or just that he looks worse because he's not getting the same assistance I don't know. But it sure as hell isn't just "oh he had a bad game and bowled badly this time".
Lmaoit's not just variance in performance when every time I've seen him bowl in Australia he's been unthreatening. And I never said he was ****. Others did.
