Is he ever in form in test cricket?
Was batting pretty well around the middle of last year in fairness, made tons against Australia and SL. Needs to get back to making a case though, 16 tests averaging 28 since his recall.

No he has been living of his 161 at mcg and his bowling for ages. He was carried by having smith, kallis, amla and ab in the same batting lineup.

He isn't bowling now as elgar is being prefered so their is no justification forhim being picked above qdk and rillee.

After all this team he still can't play offspin or the seamer going around the wicket...

There is no smoke without fire. A bunch of goons run our country and our cricket ! Someone needs to take a stand. If there was government intervention in football...FIFA would get involved but the ICC have done sweet **** all.

Morne Morkel denies AB de Villiers 'retirement' reports | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo
Wow.

I know nothing about the newspaper, what is its reputation like in South Africa?

I feel for ABDV hugely when you consider the semi final fiasco, although why did Vern have to play?, why not Behardien instead of Rilee? I'd rather gamble on an average lower order batsman than a fast bowler who wasn't match fit.

The gloves been given to him for a four test series can't have improved his mood either, and with his injury issues and how vital he is to them in all formats, he really should not be keeping.

Surely with so many non performing batsmen they could have squeezed in QDK?

On Steyn, always struck me as a traditionalist, I can't see him retiring from test cricket any time soon despite the injures, he may and probably should retire from international t20s after the world cup.

I am not Afrikaans so I can't say.

I actually hope AB threatens this to Haroon Lorgat and other cronies.

Rilee Rossouw was arguably our best batsman at the world cup and definitely in form. I certainly wouldn't say he is average ( I like him a lot as a player) and we shouldn't have to find ways to fit people in and out other than merit.

No more Boucher, Kallis grew tired. No more Boucher & Kallis, Smith grew tired. Can easily see it happening with AB, Steyn and Morkel.

Rapport is full of crap when it comes to these type of stories 99% of the time. Don't see steyn,ab or the vern retiring from tests. They may give up t20 and odi cricket but see them sticking with test cricket...

Eduan Roos is actually quite a reliable cricket reporter. I know his but not the newspapers reputation.

Been reading the paper since a kid. When it comes to sensationalist stories they are more wrong then right. Genereal cricket stories they are quite good at.

He hasn't always been with them though.

He has been freelance.

He called the Kallis T20 debacle and Gary Kirsten going to step down as coach. Wouldn't be surprised if there were others.

I may have phrased that wrong, was calling Behardien average rather than Rilee who I do rate pretty highly. :)

I think steyn will retire from odi's and t20s after the World Cup...but will play on in tests for as long as possible. He could very likely finish the highest wicket taking fast bowler behind Glenn mcgrath

Broad wickets sweep

3 -
4 -
5 -
6 - Howe
7+ -

Reckon he'll get a bag after we need him to get the second new ball to finish this innings off.
I'll take 4, I reckon it'll be Finn or Stokes who wreck the lower order.

Broad will nip out Elgar though.
