BARNES OUT
I don't think it's much of a shock that Ikki is throwing out some quality victim-blaming considering the way he likes to portray himself on the internet.

After watching that rambling press conference you could say the bloke is going senile and get him out that way if he wins the appeal. Not bitter much.

Why do you need Pep? Wenger's only 66, he's got a good 20 years of life left in him.
Yeah, as a DoF. :)

@Uppercut, United also claimed they weren't looking to get him and were happy with LVG, but they're still being linked with him along with the rest of the big four, bar Arsenal.

Arsenal have probably sent feelers out, heard that he's not interested, and decided it would undermine Wenger if they admitted to it. United tried to use the same strategy originally but then the team went on a terrible run and now with LVG likely to leave soon anyway the main concern for the club is being seen as 'in the running' for Pep. For Arsenal that's not worth the hassle it might cause to Wenger or the dressing room. I think he's probably already provisionally agreed to join Citeh, and if so it's all just a politics exercise for everyone else.

Some United fans I know we're saying Loopy was going to be sacked today. Hasn't happened yet so maybe just a false rumor.

Some of them want Giggs but I just can't see the owners taking a risk on someone without full time experience.

That would be without doubt be a disaster, surely he should manage somewhere first before taking over what looks like a really difficult job?. United gambled hugely with Moyes and to a lesser extent LVG, its time for them to go for a proven manager such as Mourinho. What exactly has Giggs brought to the team as assistant ?

The word from the Independent is LVG he has 2 games to save his skin.

I think there's a hope based on his tiny caretaker stint that he can supply attacking football and nurture young players. With funds available and a good defensive assistant people think he can be a success. The theory is he wouldn't be worse than Loopy or Moyes and if nothing else the football would be better.

I'd be for him taking the team till the end of the season if Loopy goes but appointing him full time is a massive gamble. He would have to come 2nd or 3rd as caretaker to even have a chance with the owners IMO. The problem is if they punt Loopy and go Jose I don't see them waiting.

Not sure I can have that though, Moyes at least managed a premiership club for many seasons and LVG had a lot of experience in various countries managing at the highest level for decades, I don't believe that a man who managed for a few games towards the end of a season when their was little to play for would be a better manager than those two. Its an absolutely mammoth job due to how average the squad is and how so many sides are improving so quickly around them.

Moyes was a gamble who ultimately cost them money as they missed out on the champions league, while LVG has achieved very little, I'd like to think Woody would use common sense and go for Jose who should have been appointed when Ferguson stepped down instead of worrying about offending Bobby Charlton. Giggs would be an even bigger gamble than Moyes, why risk it when Mourinho and possibly Pep are available?

I could see waiting till the summer to try to get Pep and using Giggs as caretaker. The problem is that if Pep goes to City and you approach Jose he knows you see him as 2nd choice. He may not like that since he has an ego.

I'm not convinced Jose is a good fit. His teams are defensive and he implodes in his 3rd season. The one positive is he would clean out the squad and not put up with Rooneys mediocre play.
