I'm not saying no one gets close to the physio. Even a Sunday league player knows the physio is important, but they're fairly replaceable cogs in the grand scheme of things. Players get close to each other, the manager, the assistants, and any one of them moving on or not getting proper dues/chances (it happens a lot) does not cause this kind of collapse. Why should it for a physio of all people?

I'm not saying they weren't upset, but it's ludicrous to me to suggest that it was the root cause for this fall. I think it's straightforward, honestly. The psychology of a sports person is what sets them apart from the others, that 1% extra makes a difference. And when you lose, and continue to lose, that's it. That winning mentality has gone. And I think Mourinho not having had this kind of problem before reacted badly in that his siege mentality tactic has become tiring and it's even worse when you eventually start turning on your players.

The Carneiro thing was a side-show. She had gotten some kind of notoriety because she was a decent looking physio. She should have never made it such a big deal, even if Mourinho was wrong to deflect on her.
" should never have made it such a big deal" what a bizarre comment, it really was all her fault!?!?

I don't think anyone said this caused it all, yet it was clearly a factor in the players losing faith in Jose.

You are the one bringing up her looks, personally I think it's a silly distraction from the horrible way sourinho has treated an employee that was just looking out for the health of a player.

I think it was just the moment he crossed the line into indefensible. Stepped up to a level of dick that couldn't be excused; this job's eye poke moment.

I wanted Klopp to succeed with the same players to prove what a dick Rodgers was - this is still quite funny though.
To be fair Rodgers is a complete dick for spunking so much cash on these bums. Can only rate Klopp once he has a chance to ship out some of the dross and replace them them with his own players. Going to cost Liverpool a lot to change this side into a good one though.

Yeah it's so funny that they decided to stick with Rodgers and give him loads of money when Klopp was available. Set the club back a year, possibly longer.

Depends who's available, I suspect. No way is he not buying one before the start of next season though. Mignolet is self-evidently awful, and always has been. Probably a contender for the accolade of Rodgers' worst signing I should think, though doubtless he's got some stiff competition.

Tbf, it was comedy goalkeepers that basically ruined last season at Dortmund, so it might not be as easy a fix as all that.

Gutted I missed that game though.

This isn't a case of someone moving on/not getting dues, this is a vital member of the first team set up being turned into a public scapegoat by the manager, basically being forced out of their job just for doing what they are paid to do. Its a bit more destabalising than someone leaving because they feel underappreciated.

Also, by hanging the physio out to dry, Mourinho has basically said that he see's the fitness of the players as secondary to his ego. To say someone shouldn't be getting treatment when they are down injured because he sees it as an issue won't have pleased the players at all.

You put that into another situation, and imagine being told by your manager that your health and safety at work is unimportant, and anyone who tries to keep you safe and healthy will be demoted, even if that's their job... Would you have much faith in your boss at that point, or would you slack a bit, knowing he'd be blamed/sacked for the slip in performance?
Her position isn't really vital to the team. There's only so much difference between the best physios. As I said, I don't think the players are gonna start tanking because the physio got fired. It's just not that high on the list of priorities of being a player to then endanger your own livelihood.

The health of the player thing is a bit over the top and IMO irrelevant. The foul I remember on Hazard he went down easy, and it was pretty obvious he was just buying the foul. The physios jumped the gun. I'm not saying they shouldn't have been worried about the welfare of the player, but Mourinho was right in that instance even though you do not want to see it adopted as a policy.

After the incident she made a tweet that clearly showed the division and made it even more newsworthy. Yes, Mourinho isn't an angel and he shouldn't have made it such a big deal but she clearly then decided to make it an even bigger issue for her club.

There can be a big difference between the best physio's - it's called their personality. If you've got a good physio who you get on with really well and have worked with for years, you're not just going to go 'Oh, we've replaced them, at least the new one is just as competant'. The players see the backroom staff as more than hired help y'know, they are vital ingredients to the team.

Ikki reinventing victim-blaming is even less fun then this match tbh, dog with ticks and fleas.

That last part is just bollocks. She posted on Facebook saying 'thanks for all your support guys' and Mourinho flipped. It was a full on abusive relationship, and that's likely to be confirmed in court soon. And you're being like 'she was kind of asking for it when she thanked her friends for support.'
