The ball that dismissed McCullum was there to hit, it was poor execution rather than poor shot selection that accounted for his wicket. Baz is normally pretty good at putting short wide **** away and we all love it when he pulls it off.

@ Howsie. Santa can't even average 30. Now that doesn't mean i don't rate him because i do; any young player not named Kane Williamson is going to take a few years of first class cricket to start churning out the runs. At the moment Will Young has a better record in all forms of the game (averages over 40 in FC ftr), a stronger technique and has shown the same improvement over the last 18 months that Santa has. He isn't that much more established as a fc bat either, 30 matches compared to 20 is early days.

Bah. Santner and his overconfidence.... Good nut mind.

Anyone who can seriously sit there and say the kid doesn't have a tremendous amount of batting talent is off their rocker. Give him 12-18 months and he'll be a regular in this test team. Needs to drop the bowling though.
eh no one has disputed his eye or some things like his front foot game. we've all just said it's too early.

should keep the bowling too. doesn't have to be amazing at it, but it's useful to have.

Santa doesn't need to compete for the number 5 spot. He'll keep bowling spin part-time and be our default number 6 and all-rounder when Anderson and Neesham are injured, which looks like being most of the time.

He might be a better bat than his test average suggests but my gawd his Bracewell horrible to watch.

it's been said but he'd be better off just taking a stand and delivery approach. He tries so hard to bat like a proper batsman with footwork and careful shot selection but isn't quite good enough to pull it off at this level.

There hasn't been a single ball change yet. Which is to say this pink ball holds together better than the regular kookaburra.
