Overall this is a very disappointing effort by NZ. Aside from Starc I don't think the other Oz bowlers have been great. Some piss poor shot selection.

I think Southee and/or Boult will enjoy bowling in these conditions and we've got a weakened batting lineup.

What a ball from Lyon, seemed in slow motion..

Without the bowling he's competing with Will Young for the post McCullum #5 slot. I know who my money is on.

Meh. For someone who has played (three)? full seasons of domestic cricket as a top order bat, Will Young's record isn't anything great. Averages under 40, only two 100's. Hasn't done anything for New Zealand A, I mean Santner out scored him by a long way during the recent A series against the Lankans.

Santner really only broke back into domestic cricket at the start of 2014, less than 18 months later and he's playing a test match against Australia at six. The rate of improvement in his batting has been unreal, and something i always stress with young cricketers needing to have, upside, which Santner has a ton of. Plays spin really well, best of the young ND brigade by a looooong way in that regard. Good pull shot, really nice driver.

That's just the grass tbh, it won't massively rip as the game goes on IMO.

Nah Lyon's bowled pretty well and Siddle set up Taylor too. Guptill getting LBW no surprise and Baz terrible shot selection. It's been a good bowling effort by Australia. This pitch has something.

Have no complaints about any of our wickets, relative to expectation, except Taylor and McCullum who played truly dreadful shots. The rest were due to good bowling, with a little inexperience from Latham and Santner contributing.

Starc actually wasn't anywhere near his best but does seem able to come up with something special every now and then (around the wicket to KW case in point). Siddle and Lyon been really good.

Piss poor from NZ nevertheless. Carelessness.

Pitch definitely has a lot more than the other two flat tops. Bowling's been good, Oz always bowl well. I'm saying the 7/172 is more poor batting than great bowling.

Taylor getting an inside edge when Siddle brought one back in after moving it outside off was not a poor shot selection imo
