KW's innings in Brisbane...still dreaming about it
Heard its the other way round.Btw, does anyone know how long the breaks between sessions will be during the day night test? Will it be a 40 minute tea and 20 minute dinner, or vice versa?
thought I was reading about Steve Smith for a moment there...I reckon it's better to divide Kane's career up into three phases
The "Too soon" phase: October 2010 - October 2012
884 runs at 31.57 (2 centuries)
The "He has arrived" phase: November 2012 - March 2014
1080 runs at 41.53
The "A god walks among us" phase: June 2014 onwards
1632 runs at 85.89 (with 7 centuries from 23 innings)
What the ****?The "A god walks among us" phase: June 2014 onwards
1632 runs at 85.89 (with 7 centuries from 23 innings)
Haha, looks like he had a chat with him as well.
There may yet be some hope for Suresh RainaFrom memory it went below 30 during that Sri Lanka series before he and Roscoe cleaned house.
Been amazing how he and Smith have gone from hackfrauds to men of genius.
there is not. There may yet be some hope for Suresh Raina
Smith the more astonishing imo. KW you always knew was going to be great. Smith just came out of nowhere. It wasn't long ago he was a bowler. A reinvention on the order of Mark Richardson. From memory it went below 30 during that Sri Lanka series before he and Roscoe cleaned house.

This post was great up until this point.Smith the more astonishing imo. KW you always knew was going to be great. Smith just came out of nowhere.
He was never a bowler. When he made his Test debut he was averaging about 40 with the bat and 45 with the ball in First Class cricket. The prevailing opinion on CW was that the selectors should be looking to replace North with him at six. When he did get a go as a batsman he didn't look great so the improvement is noteable as compared to Williamson who everyone just thought needed more time, but the whole "started his career as a bowler" thing is basically a myth that just won't go away. He may have been selected as an allrounder by CA early on (he batted eight but Watson and even North were more trusted with the ball so he was kind of in a nothing role), and he has focussed on his batting more over time, but he was never "a bowler" despite that.It wasn't long ago he was a bowler. A reinvention on the order of Mark Richardson.
Yeah he played a few ODIs in England IIRC and though he didn't make that many runs, he played some absurd shots, one-handed ramps over point and the like. Clearly had hand-eye that was on another level.Smith didn't come out of nowhere. Was blatantly obvious he was something special.
Those ODIs are sort of what I based my post on. Didn't notice anything special about his hand-eye then (although I do now obvs).Yeah he played a few ODIs in England IIRC and though he didn't make that many runs, he played some absurd shots, one-handed ramps over point and the like.
