Yeah I get that but once again it is a reflection of shortsightedness. The casual fan only cares for those having immediate success and only if the success is Australian. Given this is to whom Channel 9 pledges allegiance instead of to people who actually care about the game beyond casual nationalistic BS, it's not surprising that they neither care nor try to show genuine interest nor go to any extraordinary effort to showcase overseas players or the up and coming in Australia.
I just hope to god when Nine's tv rights expire whenever that may be, Channel 10 actually pounces for rights.
Nah, what the hell. It was the last wicket and everyone was running off in different directions. Im sure his previous milestones had been applauded.
This is what I have been trying to put into words!Yeah I get that but once again it is a reflection of shortsightedness.
It would only be in the channel's interest to have their commentators also seek to inform the audience a little bit. I think it's quite cynical to say "most of the Aussie fans don't care". While it might be true, the channel should perhaps try to generate their interest by informing them about the state of cricket, about other teams, about other great players and maybe, just maybe, not all but a proportion of them might find that interesting. This is how you build and grow your audience rather than be lazy about it.
He's really good, improved that edgy cover drive he used to have. He hasn't surprised as much as Smith though, from a clown that played reverse pullshots to one of the most technically safest and prolific batsmen and now captain, amazing transformation. What do you make of Kane Williamson, TumTum?
I'm more interested in hearing about how spinners don't need to use flight to take wickets. What do you make of Kane Williamson, TumTum?
I'm surprised how good your memories are, that was like wow 5 years ago haha... Hopefully a bit wiser these daysI'm more interested in hearing about how spinners don't need to use flight to take wickets.
His cover drive hasn't changed in four years. His ability to leave on the back foot and not do that poke is the differenceHe's really good, improved that edgy cover drive he used to have. He hasn't surprised as much as Smith though, from a clown that played reverse pullshots to one of the most technically safest and prolific batsmen and now captain, amazing transformation.
Holy **** I got something right? YessssWhoever suggested that Taylor should get his eyes tested was a ****ing genius.
I think that would be an extremely dangerous thing to do. Sure, you'd give yourself a chance to win, but you'd also give NZ a chance to win. Why give them that chance when you're already one up the series? McCullum would be ecstatic if Smith offered him that. The pitch is still a road and the Aussie bowlers are tired after a long NZ innings.Or declare at lunch and hope a miracle happens. I don't think NZ can chase 300 in 2 sessions, not with the red ball on a 5th day pitch. It's easy to do at ODIs but not at Tests to go at 5 runs per over against an old ball.
Or Steve Waugh.Smith ain't Clarke. He already has form in erring on the safe side wrt final innings declarations.
he is never dueit'd be a stupid decision to allow NZ a chance at making 300 in 60 considering how this test has gone so far. About 20 wickets for what, 1400+ runs?
Got KW in the form of his life, Taylor coming off 290 and Guptil and B-Mac are not only both due, but would also probably prefer a situation where they've got a license to blast boundaries
As I said earlier, giving yourself equal or even a worse chance at winning the game than your opposition is dumb when you're winning a series 1-0. exciting cricket be damned i'm a big picture person
They all run machines aren't they. Remind me ofI blame the opening post for all these runs this series. If hurricane puts a Boult vs Starc pic we'd potentially be seeing 260 plays 230 instead he went for Taylor v Warner and Williamson v Smith
Guptil and B-Mac are not only both due, but would also probably prefer a situation where they've got a license to blast boundaries
He looks so much better in ODIs than Tests that I think the NZ team should hire a hypnotist to hypnotize him before a test innings to think he's in an ODI. "The ball is white... the players are wearing coloured clothing... when you hear the word 'over' you will think you're a chicken."he is never due
