was so freaking close to a no ball
ummm, yes it wasNo it wasn't.
Bit harsh a few times I'm sure that Inzi team had Akhtar/Asif/Kaneria as bowling options - probably not Asif all the time but certainly the other two most notably when they beat England & India at home cirica 2005/06
Shoaib was there on and off and not always healthy. Off the top of my head he played the Australia, England, and then India series with any consistency. Australian tour was a lost cause for obvious reasons. He was phenomenal against England and in Karachi against India. He also played half a match against South Africa that we won.akhtar was missing on the park most of the time though, and asif came in 06, towards the end of his captaincy IIRC
Ye this is pretty much how I remember it as well.Shoaib was there on and off and not always healthy. Asif's breakout match was the Karachi one against India. He was the star bowler in Sri Lanka, played only the Ovalgate match in England, best bowler in South Africa.
Kaneria played a lot more consistently but wasn't consistently good. He was great in India, against England, and decent to bad against West Indies (though my recollection may be off due to Lara tearing him a new one). I remember him being pretty useless after that.
So yeah we had good bowlers but rarely at the same time due to injuries. Umar Gul spearheaded the attack against Windies and in England, Sami was in and out, Shabbir Ahmed played against England in Multan and then was banned never to be seen again, etc. Razzaq was a mainstay in the side as a bowler for a long time and that tells you a lot about our injury issues around that time.
Really, Pakistan's success was almost always due to our ridiculous middle order of Younis/Yousuf/Inzi with Kakmal and Butt playing a good few innings at times, and then having just enough firepower with our bowling to win matches.
Again, this is all off the top of head so feel free to correct me.

This a more consistent and confident side though. Watching this team develop over the last few years, I think since 2014 they have figured out how to win test matches, how to nail crunch situations. The Inzamam led side, while good, would not be able to pull off a 378 run chase with relative ease, nor a 300 plus chase earlier. The Inzaman lead Pakistan in the mid 2000s was similar to this.
