Azhar Ali is out of the first test. So they will play both Masood, Shehzad and Hafeez in top 3.

That would be a huge blow to Pakistan as he is easily their second best player, he killed England last time round. That makes the first test 50-50 for me, heck probably make England favourites especially if Malik and Junaid rock up.

Was discussed in the other thread, probably won't play under Misbah and to be fair they want him to play some domestic cricket as well, but you'd be a brave man to bet against him not playing the next Pakistan series, heck while unlikely, wouldn't be astounded to see him playing in the limited overs part of the England tour.

I don't think they will play Malik.
As I said, this allows them to play all 3 - Masood, Shehzad and Hafeez.

Otherwise they would have to drop one of those 3.

I think Malik might play.

Misbah is indebted to Malik. It was Malik who brought Misbah back from the wilderness. So Misbah definitely would want to repay that debt.

Not sure if Malik had much to do with it. Misbah had been knocking on the doors for most part of the 00s but Pakistan had a pretty strong middle order of YK, MOYO and Inzy and Inzy as captain is said to have prefered Asim Kamal over Misbah when the choice was given to him. After the 07 WC, Inzy retired, Yousuf went to ICL and got himself banned, and Misbah had scored heavily in the domestic T20 competition so they picked him for the 07 T20 WC squad.

That said, even if it were true, I don't think Misbah is really the 'you scratch my back I scratch yours' type.

Not sure if it has not been paid off. Misbah threw a huge strop when Malik was not in the ODI squad a few years ago for the England series and he was then included and was absolutely awful. He was also picked ahead of Umar for the champions trophy in England which had to be a Misbah call, which backfired as well.

I understand Misbah wants an all rounder and an another offspinner, but look at Malik's test bowling numbers and they are awful, one thing taking wickets against Zimbabwe, but he will be owned by the likes of Root, Taylor and Cook.

Yeah I think MIsbah just really rates Malik as opposed to feeling indebted to him. Nothing wrong with arguing a strong case for a player you think would add something to a side. Whether Misbah's right about Malik is another matter but I think it's a bit **** to just assume it's personal.
