*Official* 2nd Test at Lord's

was Australia bowling too short a thing from last game? I just thought they were too wild. Starc is bowling to Cook the same as he did last test for example, full, but swaying onto the pads a bit.
No, it was just too wide. The balls are actually hitting the stumps in this test.

Didn't watch the last hour where Cook and Stokes consolidated, but before drinks yes we were pitching it up. Starc seemed a bit patchy, especially against Ballance.

Slightly worried about the Cook/Stokes partnership. Obviously 4 wickets in a session is good but it does feel a bit like the Lord's Test earlier this year (difference is that we're batting first so for England to win they need to chase down 500 probably...or us to enforce the follow-on).
yes the last partnership has got me worried, Cook and Stokes compliment each other well, Stokes with counterattacking aggression and Cook with the pragmatic defense. We need to get them out quickly. With the depth of batting England have I'm not writing them out yet. Hopefully, overcast conditions and the pitch itself help us tomorrow.

Watching the higlights; man the ass-slap by Clarke to Nevill
Nah **** that they are 481 behind. Just bowl normally and hold on to the catches. If England were 3 down over night with Root and Cook in yeah i'd be slightly worried but Stokes would offer a chance any way.

Although they did drag the length back a bit towards the end. No idea why just have to bowl really full like they did earlier. Might concede few runs but there are plenty to play with

Yeah Stokes will probably make 400 not out on this pitch, which is so disgracefully flat that it's destroying test cricket and the whole reason Australia batted well on the first day it's not because they're good or that England aren't amazing, it's all the pitch.

Change the record, please. I've barely read this thread but I've seen you make the same point 5 or 6 times. I don't disagree with the old adage that you should see both teams bat on a pitch before judging it but I think we get the point.

Seriously though I think it would be interesting to analyze the media response to the first day's play in respect to whether the journalists were simply being partisan, or honestly mistaken (or possibly even correct, will have to see what happens over the next 3 days), or deliberately pandering to cricket fans. If it was the latter then I, personally, find that interesting as you can see why such articles would be more attractive for English fans to buy/click on/read than an article about how "Australia were very good" or "England weren't that good" etc.

I know **** all about journalism mind you

Must admit I found it hard to swallow when I opened up cricinfo the next morning to see a piece decrying the wicket from Dobell on Day 1. I guess with Lord's you can make an assumption that it won't deteriorate as much as other wickets.

That doesn't excuse you bringing it up over and over again, it's been very tiresome.

2nd day seemed to have a lot more in it for the bowlers. Still not exactly a perfect bowling strip but it wasn't as bad as it seemed in the first day. Probably because Australia actually bowled very well and attacked the stumps though.

But how will people know I am right and they are wrong I want them to always know that I am better than them in every way always or else I can't sleep

And btw pretty sure I brought it up, like, twice, and this is the first time after 2 days play so there was actually more data to reflect upon, and it's a whole different issue now.

But I won't bring it up tomorrow if you don't want me to m8
