I didn't mention English clubs but **** other English clubs . But even that 'development' fee would be a pittance. Anyway, after 2 years he can go without Liverpool stopping him.He can't leave on a free to another English club given he will still be under 24 in two years time
Arent't there bebureaucratic regulations that disallow this sort of thing?Would love to see Liverpool adopt a stance whereby they simply refuse to deal with the agent
Happy to talk direct with Raheem and anyone else he chooses to pay to represent him but **** the other guy
Can players do that? I remember seeing it as a feature on an old footy manager (maybe even the last Champ Man before the split) but I don't remember it ever actually happening?Yeah that's a really good point. If Liverpool take the hard line with Sterling (and they won't), it's a really bad move in terms of attracting future players to the club.
Pretty sure Sterling could just buy himself out of his contract anyway.
edit: @Uppercut
Don't see why it wouldn't be allowed from a legal perspective. Can players do that? I remember seeing it as a feature on an old footy manager (maybe even the last Champ Man before the split) but I don't remember it ever actually happening?
I don't think they'll do it, but I think they'll keep him for one season. Like they did with Suarez. As if a club would realistically keep a player who clearly doesn't want to be there and run down his contract for 2 years. Literally throwing money away.
I think a club would need quite the history for this theory to begin to make sense for players to doubt Liverpool as a trustable institution. We sold every player that wanted to go and only on Suarez did we really make it a point to keep him for the season - even then an agreement was made to let him go and we did.The bad PR point is an interesting one. Stuff like this is often framed in terms of "who would join a club that always sells its best players". But maybe the opposite is true. Would any of us take a job somewhere that was rumoured to spread dirt on employees that tried to leave? You definitely wouldn't be thinking "great, they'll do anything to keep their best talent, this is a company that's really going places".
Pretty sure Hleb, and potentially Fabregas, might have activated a clause that meant they had to be sold. I know they both payed the club money to get a move. Can players do that? Another thing about the latter two is I think they suit Arsenal a lot better. Just read this article which I thought was really good: http://soccercoachinginternational.com/pdf/SCI 05.8 Frans Hoek.pdfI think we need to upgrade, but I'm starting to get doubts Cech is the one. 33 today, and I know goalkeepers last a lot longer than outfielders, but you are occasionally reminded of why Chelsea were right to bring Courtois back to play in front of him.
Lloris and Leno are supposedly available around the 20m mark as well.
Can't see Rangers buying anyone above League 2 levelSurely Spurs won't sell Lloris to us?

Haha please be true, would be so funny.Julian Laurens reckons Lloris has a release clause for Champions League clubs.
