Jonbrooks chucking Megathread

Heh? Sinclair the worst test cricketer of all time? They guy did get 2 double hundreds and a 150. Sure he had issues with his footwork but he should really have been batting at 1, 2 or 3 in the first place. He should have batted at 5 or 6.
You need to read the thread. The exalted CW voting public voted Steve Smith 10th Worst Test Cricketer of All Time. Who knows what other shocks are still to come. Could we see Mitchell Johnson nail a place in the top 10?

I can't blame you for it, but the joke has flown completely over your head.

PEWS is a massive Sinclair fanboi, everyone rips into him for it, Heef heavily implied in his Worst Cricketers Ever thread that Sinclair featured on the list. I extrapolated that to land on Sinclair as the winner (loser?) of the list for max PEWS-rage.

I see. I wouldn't say I'm a Sinclair fanboi but I feel he was poorly used by the NZC. As I mentioned before he was never a 1, 2 or 3. Should have batted around 5 or 6. Sinclair was very effective once set.

I see Narine has opted out of the WC to work on his action. Good on him. Nice to see crickets taking responsibility for their actions (no pun intended).

Not usually a conspiracy theorist but you'd suggest there was some external influences involved. I don't think many people would give up a World Cup spot on pure speculation that they might be called.

What external influences and for what purpose? The KKR possibly? I don't see the motive though.

He might just be pulling out because he suspects that he'll get called and suspended and he'd rather wait and fix his action and avoid the ignominy of being officially outed as a "chucker".

I wouldn't be surprised if the WICB received notice from the ICC that if he was declared a chucker after this period of "fixing his action" that there would be consequences. It may be entirely Narine driven but I somehow doubt that the board isn't involved in some way.

Let's not pretend Narine is an angel here. He was completely prepared to take advantage of the rules and play the World Cup then get tested. The fact that the ICC called him out on it has essentially forced him to withdraw.

lets increase the bending allowance. It's a way to give the bowlers an advantage. Batsmen have shorter boundaries, better bats, fielding restrictions........Give the bowlers 25' to work with to compensate for all the advantages given to the batsmen

You know I really wouldn't mind spinners extending up to 25 degrees..........but what would happen if the quicks were given that leeway?

AFAIC the game is all the better for having the doosra and these "mystery spinners" and personally I don't want to see any of them banned. I don't expect a lot to agree with me on this and the rules are the rules and as they stand now it is right that the ICC is clamping down and enforcing them. I do think they need to be looked again though.

So there is evidence out there,

1. Doosra can be bowled legally - A strong lad like Kaushal can get half of his doosras below 15, then some one as supple as Murali can get them within limit easily
2. And we have a marginal case!

Kaushal's doosra was banned because half of them were illegal. Now how many balls as a % should go over 15 degrees to call a bowler illegal? if this is just >0%, testing normal actions and effort balls becomes important.

So it's time now, ICC, should we see the results of the control bowlers or random tests?
