***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

you can even go back to the tour of india prior to that where he scored that 92
Yeah that 92 and his Old Trafford innings was where he came of age as a batsman, the Oval inning was huge for him though because IMO he needed the monkey of his first ton off his back. Once he got that out the way he's been pretty ****ing special. Just needs a double now really.

I remember when Smith getting out between 50-99 in the Shield was a running gag (one of many).

Now he only gets out after he's over 100.

Great that Shami took 5 wickets and Lokesh Rahul has made his first 30 in international cricket. I am excited about these players. It's nice to be an Indian cricket supporter right now. A team in development.

Yes, not being able to take 20 wickets in a match, ever, is a nice time to support the country. You know, by default, you can't win. Hence on Day 1 ~>

If it was that easy to take 20 wickets in a game in Australia, more teams would have done it in the last 15 years. We bowled like ****, but I see positives for the future. Ishant Sharma has been a revelation in this series. I can see him lead our attack for the near future. Shami, from being lost this year in tests, seems to have found his way. Bhuvneshwar Kumar wasn't threatening but he showed he could play the role of the stock fast bowler when India cannot have 3 strike fast bowlers. Umesh Yadav is such a natural talent and I see him improve a bit every time. I wish he can develop into some thing special, like Kapil Dev. Such a natural, easy action generating good pace and bounce. He certainly has the body for it but I do not know if he can make things right. I see that he can as he has a build for it.

Yeah, maybe I cannot see things as plainly as, oh we didn't take 20 wickets, so we are ****, and can see a larger.

We must never call our team ****, no matter how badly they perform, if there is potential. QED.

If I Was an Indian supporter I wouldnt be splashing about in happiness because of the bowling performance...this Was Indias best chance at rolling our piss weak batting over for low scores. Once Clarke blew up it Was there on a plate for you guys. And you ****ed it up.

It was particularly funny because before that run started, i think he had 6 100s and 5 50s in FC games, with some of the 50s being not outs or out while smacking it around with the tail in. So you know, a good conversion rate which helped explain why he averaged 50+. And then he recorded like ten 50s in a row (including his 92 in India)

Oh please. I am hardly some one who just keeps defending sanctimoniously just because it is India. I am the first one to say we have had a terrible last 3 years or so, say. I love how people start categorising fans just because they disagree with points of views. Easy way to do that than to actually argue a point at hand.

Not particularly splashing in happiness about our bowling performance, tbh.

The point to be argued is

It's nice to be an Indian cricket supporter right now. A team in development.
a) It's not nice.

b) It's been a team in development for 3 years (esp in bowling)

c) I would have phrased it "I have a feeling it will be nice to be an Indian cricket supporter an year from now. When our team/bowling has developed into a potent attack." :)

I don't know how you were categorized by my earlier posts, tbh.

To be fair the pitches this tour has been weirdly flat.

Even when england came over last time the pitches were lively enough for them to trouble our batting line-up before haddin inevitably saved them.

Also lively enough for us to completely blow them away.

Australia and India should blame England for this pitch been so flat, if they hadn't lost in three days, then we may have got a more exciting wicket. Sydney must have lost a fortune last year due to the shortness of that test.

I wouldn't be surprised if all the curators were under orders for 5 days of play pitches. Drop ins probably less of an issue since they just do their own thing.

I can see the frustrations. For me, it has been nice to see the development. Ishant has improved. Umesh Yadav has a bit, but he hasn't got as many opportunities. The batting improvements have been so interesting to observe. For a long while now, we have been full of super talented batsmen. However, only, in the last few years, we have seen players who have grown a bit from being kids. It is some thing which has not been enjoyable at all in the last 3 years. I wouldn't call of it development per say. However, I am seeing the team improve a bit in this tour, and it makes me optimistic.

I see immense potential and a significant amount of improvement in the batting. Kohli, Rahane, Vijay are all way better now than they were a year and a half ago.

The bowling though.... Yeah. It's as pathetic as it can get. Apart from Ashwin, who's improved from utter donkey **** to an unthreatening but tight bowler, I see no reason to be even slightly happy or optimistic.

honestbharani

Whatever it takes!!!
Think Ashwin will be reasonably more threatening in these conditions if the seamer at the other end can actually bowl to a decent level.. What these guys are bowling is an utter mockery of the term "international cricket"... I bet there are players playing club cricket who can smash these guys around in such conditions.. Kimber hit the nail on the head, it is not the amount of T20s these guys play (and frankly they hardly play it outside of IPL and the CLT20).. It is the amount of FC cricket they DO NOT play...

Is it too many ODIs? When they are not playing t20 or tests they should be playing FC unless they never have time due to ODIs. Or if they end up playing short format when they play for their states.

Ya it was going well till Mitchell Johnson scored that 88.

Brisbane was our best chance of winning one.
