Bah just got back and missed yesterdays play, seems like I need a slice of humble pie as from the scorecard it looks like Wagner was missed, still think Bracewell should of got a game though, in hindsight it should of been for Craig, did the wicket got placid earlier than expected? or was Sangakkara just that good?
When Neesham was the pick of our bowlers and bowled the best lines and lengths, you know how poorly the other three performed.

Quite frankly, NZ kind of deserved what happened from 78/5 onwards -

Firstly, there was the enforced follow on in the first game which spent Southee and Boult.
Second, there was leaving Wagner out of the side when he's participated in three of the five victories and none of the two losses that NZ had last year, he's previously lived to take those vital first innings wickets that change the match.
Third, how many weak dismissals we gave away in the first innings to take our relatively strong position into a completely weak one within a session of play.

You just don't drop performing players for players who haven't performed in their recent efforts at test level. It would be the same as dropping Taylor for Anderson because he's had a couple bad matches in a row.

Morning Chaps. Just contemplating what NZ would take as a minimum performance in the first session today.

82/2? Taking the lead to 200 with 3 wickets in hand? Would you settle for that if offered before the start of play?

You would have to say it would be a good result for us in that situation, although I'd still feel like it wasn't enough. My thoughts are on this wicket against Sri Lanka, 300+ is required unless we find some early magic and get them 4 down for not many with both Sanga and Matthews back in the shed.

Craig was getting turn and bounce on day 2. Hopefully he finds even more in the last innings because there isn't much in this for the pacemen.

Is this Latham on the radio right now? He's got a hint of an English accent in there.

edit: nevermind. not Tom Latham. Damn your slip Wadds

The main bloke we missed was Southee. It was an ordinary effort by NZ with the ball, but the main reason for SL's success was an ATG innings by an ATG batsman. Take his 200 out of that SL scorecard and it's woeful. Just an incredible innings.

NZ TAB now have us as favourites.

New Zealand - 2.10
Sri Lanka - 2.35
Draw - 5.00
Need another good 2 hours before I would make you favourite. Once the lead is past 220 then it gets tricky depending how many wickets are left but until then SL have to be favourites.
