***Official**** Sri Lanka in New Zealand 2014/2015

As a NZ supporter I wouldn't feel too bad about a defeat from here, would be a travesty if Sanga were to finish on the losing side. Lanka seem absolutely determined to win it for him, despite some seemingly flat captaincy from Mathews today.

Not too optimistic about NZ defending anything lower than, say, 275 if as reported the pitch has eased out (apparently will take spin?). Get the feeling it'll come down to whether Boult enjoys a destructive spell with the new ball. But hey, stranger things have happened.

I'm pretty confident if the pitch isn't offering much any chase under 300 won't bother us much because I'd back our openers to get us off to a decent start and then the middle order is strong enough to take us home, as for the 'flat' captaincy, I think it's just a matter of Matthews realizing his bowlers will struggle to bowl wicket-taking deliveries and he is choosing to try and build pressure instead, he's limited by the skill of his pacemen and the lack of help for the spinner, so I don't blame him at all tbh

Hi Moss. Kiwi in India or Indian who likes NZ?

Indian who likes NZ. Pretty much consider NZ *my team*, right from the time I started following cricket. Been following CW threads regularly as the site seems seems to be the one place which features regular and detailed discussion on kiwi cricket :D (helps in particular when series like this are not televised in India). Don't think I'll be posting too often though.

I'll bite.

Jeets? Reluctant Yes
Sinclair? Yes (particularly underutilised in ODIs IMO)
Devcich? No
Taylor? Yes
Guptill? Yes (if he's improved his FC/ test game)
Blocky? *Lets this one sail through to the keeper*

It has dawned overcast and humid in Wellington today. Far from ideal weather in which to bat to save a Test match.
Just conditions that these two being BOP/Waikato boys should've played in about a billion times, also the little factor of their seam attack not being swing bowlers nor the ball being outstandingly new. Conditions remain great for batting.

Bah just got back and missed yesterdays play, seems like I need a slice of humble pie as from the scorecard it looks like Wagner was missed, still think Bracewell should of got a game though, in hindsight it should of been for Craig, did the wicket got placid earlier than expected? or was Sangakkara just that good?

It will be a real test for our batsmen. If the weather reports are accurate then these are the type of conditions I'd like to see our bowlers operate. I'll see how the first half hour goes before I chuck in my predictions. :-)
