Yeah, if resting Harris from this game gets him through the whole World Cup, I'm all for it. Takes our ODI unit to a whole other level IMO.
I'm not. ODI games are likely to take a toll on his body and any chance at any longevity is by staying a test bowler only.

Would have no complaints at all in Behrendorf getting a cap in order to rest Rhino for the WC.

Sydney just ain't the turner it was in the 70/80/90s. Two spinners is overkill.

He'd have a decent chunk of time off after the World Cup to recover, no? I honestly don't understand how you can argue playing back-to-back Tests will help his longevity at this point, while playing 5 or 6 ODIs during the World Cup will ruin him.

I'd like to see them bring in a new quick if they rest Rhino. Sayers or Behrendorff, imo.

That said, it's risky considering Hazlewood would only be in his third Test and Watson's bowling isn't exactly great these days.

Back to back tests I would leave to him. ODIs and T20s IMO put more stress on the players physically. I understand wanting him with his batting and his gun bowling. I just don't like the risk vs reward. I'm just selfish and want him to play as many tests as possible.

Agree with Tangles. Ryno's an awesome Test bowler, Test matches are where it's at and he's not gonna be around for a lot more time. If his body is up to it let him play tests.

I'm a 'supremacy of Tests' guy at heart too but I don't really have any problem with the argument that World Cups have the same importance as Test matches.

Can anyone explain to me why we need to rest him from this Test rather than the upcoming tri-series, though?

Oh don't get me wrong, resting Harris from Tests to make sure he's fit for the WC is insane. I just don't think he should be rested from the World Cup to ensure he can play more Tests either. Both are important; he should play both if he's fit. If he gets injured playing one and then misses the other, oh well.

If he's such a concern that he needs to be rested after one Test then he probably shouldn't be playing at all. IMO give him this test and the start of the Tri Series. Then rest him either mid way or at the end of the series so he's fresh for the World cup. Unless I'm mistaken there should be some random warm up games before the World Cup which can be used for some further match practice if needed.

Harris fit, Harris plays. Unbreakable universal law.

Tbh, as good as I thought Harris was, just thought about something else that makes him more of a god amongst leather-fingers. By virtue of the way he operates, he makes it real easy for umps to give lbws. Gets very few contentious ones, they're generally plumb. I know my finger is half way in the air as soon as he hits pad, must be comparable to McG by proportion. He gets a lot more lift off the seam than you'd expect a bloke looking as skiddy as he does so you have to be very wary of when he comes knocking on your front door but if it's on the 4th stump line, you're in with a big chance of of nicking out too. If I had to pick one aspect of how hard it is to face him, the tension between what is for him a slight change in line is it because at the business end you have to watch it so, so hard.

Tactics around the wicket ball, man.

There are usually some random practice games during the World Cup as well (cough *bangladesh* cough)

Whatever it takes!!!
So bad when they talk over each other as the bowler is running in.

Obviously a balance needs to be struck. You cant have them crapping on about 1st change average or something absurd. They have obviously lent too far in the opposite direction though.

Any excuse to borrow something from the 12th man, but it is incredibly important and entertaining when the commentators can establish a partnership between themselves. The viewers love it!

There were some Dravid-Ganguly gems when India were in England.. You guys should you tube it... Best of the recent additions IMO...
