I can see Akshar debuting.

From reports I've gotten about his Ranji bowling, he seems a proper left arm spinner, and not just a dart throwing Jadeja Lite. Apparently very skilful and talented. However his batting is more or less Karn Sharma quality.

Given no MSD, Bhuvi being fit, and Aaron returning, I think a good lineup for Sydney would be:

Dhawan/Rahul
Vijay
Pujara
Kohli (c)
Rahane
Saha (+)
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Akshar
Yadav
Aaron

Can see India sticking with 6 batsmen and Shami tho. Rohit might return as well.

I think that a bit of the niggle in the series could well have affected the decision too. If they aren't getting on out there, then there would have been a bit of "Why on Earth would we give these blokes a sniff?" flying around their thoughts.
Ultimately, winning the series > winning the test.

Watson averages 28 with the bat and 56 with the ball in the last 3 years. That's just mind-blowing.
Been a big fan of Watson over the years but it's taking the piss now. Any semblance of meritocracy is undermined with Watson in the team.

Ishant, apart from being the "most experienced" and the "spearhead of the attack", is quite a bit better than Aaron atm #SentencesYouNeverThoughtYouWouldSay

shane watson is very lucky to be in team, his medium pace bowling is club level standard and his batting is basically county cricket standard

Agar has 7 wickets at 45 in the shield but has impressed in BBL games says cricinfo. The selectors are trolling. I can sense another Rhino resting coming. Maybe they want the test to be more even and go to day 5 by having some SLA pies for the Indian batsman to feast on.

Say in an ideal world Mitch Marsh comes in for Watto in the future.

With Clarke injured & with S. Marsh and Burns called up in this series and seen as next in line, what would the next 5 in line look like ?

Trying to get names together ;

either return to Cowan/Doolan/Bailey/White

or new blood Lynn, Ferguson, Cooper, Silk, Maddinson ?

Travis Head probably has the talent but needs to start converting 50s into 100s so he is a bit further down the line in the thinking.

ed is a goner.
like doolan personally and should get another go.
bailey and white are rubbish.
don't personally rate lynn and silk all that highly.ferg is not that young but I don't mind him getting a go.maddo is enormously gifted and he is one of my favourite young players to watch but shouldn't be anywhere near the test side until he learns to build a proper innings.got the time in his side though

micheal clarke really doesn't deserve this **** specially after everything that he shown over the last month or so . I'd nominate the entire new zealand team instead him.
Clarke going through a tragedy was very classy.
Clarke on a cricket field, not so much.

I just looked at the players at the top of the shield averages this year. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

This , again
Suspending the SS for the BBL allows or prompts them to make changes based on current form rather than relevant form. Not sure if it's a side affect of the stupid schedule or a benefit (in the selectors minds). Ie he doesn't take wickets but he has recent form
