India Burnt Out?

What a load of bull ****. Ishant Sharma averages 31.36 in 2014 in tests and last time I checked, he only played tests v Australia, New Zealand and England this year. 38 wickets in 8 tests at a little over 31. He is our most reliable seamer right now.

It's actually 40. But he really has had a decent year. Average still in the 30s, but almost 5 wickets a match, and striking every 54 balls.

At least he's not a skiver, 60 Tests for a 26 year old pace bowler representing a country that supposedly isn't that fussed by the longer format certainly shows some qualities worthy of praise

That's a great point. Playing 60 tests at 26 is a great feat in itself for a young fast bowler. You keep hearing fast bowler breaking down with the work load of modern cricket. That he has played 60 tests as a fast bowler at 26 is a pretty big achievement.

Whatever it takes!!!
You nearly won the first test because Australia declared twice and gave India a chance. They took 12 wickets in that match. I know it's adekaide and all, but still. There's no way india deserved to get close at all.

We never deserved to be in a position to win that game but that is exactly where we were when Saha went crazy... India were that close to the win there, whether they deserved it or not is a different question.

Bhuvi was dead in the last test in England as he had simply been flogged.
How come Broad and Anderson (who both had heavier workloads than him - Anderson bowled 25 more overs FFS) didn't look dead then?

A few questions for the Indian posters, is their any other possible all rounders coming through? Is Pathan finished, any hope for Rishi Dhawan?
Pathan was always tripe though, so I question if he ever started.

Better fitness levels? Also I would think Bhuvi had to bat under pressure and expectation a lot more than those two had to.

Haha, I had to go and check because it'd be the greatest thing ever if he did. Unfortunately he averages 40.05.
Yeah, fair enough. I checked it out now and unfortunately it isn't 47 without those 2. Might be closer to that before 2014 perhaps.

60 tests in which he hasn't improved one iota or even increased his fitness.

Yes he doesn't get injured but that's easy to do when you come back for your 2nd and 3rd spells 20k down in pace, which is what he does every single test. You don't get to claim longevity as a strength if you're half-arsing it.

He hasn't particularly tightened his bowling such that he could increase the pressure, hasn't added an outswinger, hasn't put on a kilo of muscle.

He hasn't even had a haircut ffs.

How many good off-seasons do you reckon he's been able to fit in, during his whole career?

He was 17 when he first started playing, from any other country they'd be put away to get their body ready for Test cricket, Ishant's never had that chance.

I faintly recall him having a long term injury a couple of years ago, having to have an operation done. Would be interesting to see his record since then, when he would have been able to spend some time in the gym and getting the rest of his body ready for Tests.
