Do you consider 245 a good score? My ancestor still holds the record for this from the first ever Test match if so. The oldest record.

I do not as that's the knock that prompted the question

Thanks for the link. Looks like Nourse's 248 out of 417 answers my query. Hafeez does get on that list towards then end as he scored more than 55% of the team's runs here.

I'm not sure it's that they don't want to be out there as such. More a case of not wanting to celebrate or show any positive emotions, which is understandable.

Ah Craig gets another freebie.
Nah. Having just re watched the start of the day and seeing Williamson crying in the team huddle a mintue before they were about to go out onto the field you can't tell me he want's to be out there.

Thread's better off; if he was here we'd have about 20 posts on how Craig is rubbish and how Southee should man up and bang one in by now.

My first post post-Phil (still feeling like the players look). Btw, Glenn Turner has the 1st class run percentage record - 141 out of 169 for Worcestshire (83%)

I rate Craig and think he'll succeed on English and West Indies pitches but I just wasn't expecting him to do at all well here.
Really? Lacks the control to test the vigil of batsmen when the pitch isn't offering assistance IMO, handy against the left-handers though

Exactly. Horses-for-courses selection, which is about as good as we can get from a spinner.

Bounce is his main weapon which is why I wasn't expecting him to do well here, and I was right for the first two tests in which he was clearly outbowled by Sodhi.

After watching that last session, I could totally see this match finishing up with scores of

350
100
100
100

Or some such. Very awkward to watch.

Nah, NZ will get a first innings lead, just depends on how many.

The worst part is some of the commentators making half-hearted attempts to pretend it's a normal match though, it must be very difficult for them too but it's painful to listen to as the listless action plays out in front of them

I won't be hypocritical & say I rate him now, because I don't. I did miss his last 4 wickets today, but most of the wickets I've seen in his test career to date have been gift-wrapped.

There's this yearly competition that our school and a few others take part in. This year we had only just arrived when we got the news that a staff member who was heavily involved in this comp died in a car crash. The atmosphere was exactly like what we have seen today, people breaking down etc; it was 50-50 whether we would continue. Hours were spent going through the motions, but eventually something clicked and we began to enjoy ourselves whilst mourning at the same time. It was surreal. It would be so awesome if the Blackcaps, (and Pakistan?) not necessarily today, or even tomorrow, could do the same, but i could fully understand if they couldn't.
