Obvs not watching the match, but I'm thinking somebody somewhere has got to bowl the first bouncer since..... Can any of the bowlers in this match stomach doing it? Also, when it finally comes, be it today or in a week, how will the batsman, and more pressing (IMO) the media react?

Unless we have a consensus that either A) we'll never bowl another bouncer again or B) No one will complain when it comes, there's going to be mixed emotions when someone decides 'Sod it, I'm here to win, this is going back in my armoury'

Strangely enough, I think it will be an Australian who will, and in a way its only right that Australia lead the way in reintroducing it to the game (so long as they don't wait too long). As Adders has said elsewhere, the fast bowler roughing up a batsman is one of the spectacles of the game (personally for me, Atherton v Donald - what a duel each time), and it'll be a poorer game without it.

Hopefully there will be a quick improvement in helmets to placate worry (I believe newer styles already do that), i'd rather see that come in around the same time as the bouncer returns.

For one thing, I think "can you bowl the bouncer?" will be one of the unspoken check points as to whether the bowlers are emotionally ready to play. They're professionals, they know what they need to do.

I suppose on the same foot, can you face one would be asked of the batsmen (even the bowlers too). I wonder if that was mooted between these two teams....
