**Official** Pakistan v New Zealand in the UAE 2014

We'll see what transpires in the next two tests but perhaps NZ's "rise" was a bit premature? lets look at it...

1. At home they beat a WI side with half it's best players missing

2. At home they beat an India side who don't travel well

3. away they beat a WI side intent on killing themselves

That's hardly proving much is it? there was no variaty in this recent good spell....two wins against a lower ranked side and one win against a side who can't perform outside their roads...

It wasn't long ago England and SA beat NZ just as bad if not worser than what Pak are doing now...so maybe NZ's true standing is a little inbetween the two? can pull off the odd decent performance but more often than not come up short against the very top teams.

No doubt..there's a lot to work with there but finding a partner for Latham seems an issue, mccullum seems to be on the decline and Neesham/Anderson shouldn't be in anyones top six imo.

Watling, Southee and Boult are decent when they are on form but like we've discussed before the spin department is a major concern aswell...bottom line is until these areas of concern are addressed it's always gonna be one step forward and two back methinks.
why would a brazilian bandwagon such a terrible team?

this imran khan bloke isn't bad but if he's getting reverse tang someone of southee's ability really should've been able to as well

if pakistan can

a) travel well
b) keep this going after younis, misbah and babar retire

then we have a number two side here.

Good question. I guess the pitches in the uae are more sporting and generally suit our bowling. Pitches in Pakistan are ridiculously Roady. Better chance of winning here
Haha no way can you call these pitches sporting. They blunt all but the very very best of foreign fast bowlers, and sometimes even they're helpless. They do however suit your bowling, as you said.

This bowling attack isn't winning Test matches away.

Funnily enough, when their two banned quicks become available, their batting could be as ordinary as it was when they were last playing.

we'll see what transpires in the next two tests but perhaps australia's "rise" was a bit premature? Lets look at it...

1. At home they beat an england side with half it's best players playing like turd

2. Away they beat a south african side who don't home well

3. Then they had a nice long break

that's hardly proving much is it? There was no variaty in this recent good spell....one win against a useless side and one win against a side who can't perform on their home decks... And then they stopped playing

No doubt..there's a lot to work with there but finding a partner for warner seems an issue, clarke seems to be on the decline and marsh/maxwell shouldn't be in anyones top six imo.

they've got junaid to come back and if rahat can take wickets in the UAE then with extra help elsewhere he should go okay. babar will be severely blunted outside the UAE and asia but shah is a wristy so shouldn't be too adversely affected even though he's not really a big turning leggie.

Yeah, your right WW. In retrospect, beating a minnow like WI shouldn't have raised our expectations about our chances here.
