2) Quiet, confident leader who has been all heart taking over should instill some calm as opposed to Kohli.

I am not saying Bhuvi should be the long term captain, but a transitional one, until Kohli is back on his feet, and hopefully with a better head on his shoulder (and no, by that I don't mean Anushka Sharma's head :disgust:)

Sorry harsh, but this just is not a good idea at all. You don't throw captaincy to people, even as a "transition", because they have a good series.

Fletcher has to go I agree. But I can't really see the argument for staying with Dhoni - I thought he was the right man to lead after 8-0 because there simply were no other contenders - the 281 generation had faded and the new generation were still establishing themselves.

But now, I think Kohli, Pujara and Ashwin have all come a lot further in their experience and learning as test cricketers - yes Kohli and Pujara may have had rough tours but I'm pretty sure both of them will bounce back strong from this. They are the least of India's problems IMO.
Yes Australia won't be an easy place for a new captain but test cricket is demanding and a new captain has to start learning somewhere. The truth is Dhoni has taken India as far as he's gonna take them - time for some new ideas and a fresh start.

More than the form of Kohli and Pujara, the real issues for India are ;

1) How they actually prep for and plan out overseas tours (and that's really down to the BCCI).
2) The team management (dhoni, Fletcher and the support staff have to be overhauled iMO)
3) The openers - have India ever had a couple of openers who've looked reasonable away from home at the same time ?
4) Finding an all rounder good enough to play at 6 - India need to play 4 bowlers + an all rounder because the truth is 4 bowlers hasn't worked for them in taking 20 wickets.

I agree, and normally wouldn't suggest this. But these are not ordinary times, are they? :(

Pujara would be my second choice, as it is. Maybe even my first after my head has cleared a bit of the anger and frustration.

Ashwin at 6 is a no brainer for India, he isn't good enough bowler to bat any lower but he can certainly bat 6 (especially as most of his tests are in India).

Notts are the only ones I can see to be honest unless BCCI pay the salary, the teams at the business ends of both tables are pretty sorted or broke:

John Hastings has been great for Durham
Northants have no money at all and are pretty much gone anyway
Bears have arguably the best overseas player this season
Notts have Franklin but not sure he plays FC cricket much anyway, might be worth a go to give them the edge in title push.
Yorks have Williamson, but doesn't he leave before season finishes? Might be a good replacement

reading Leicestershire are favourites to sign him. Not sure Div 2 bowling and playing in an awful team is what he needs to be honest...

Who are you naming as captain? Kohli was perfectly placed 6 months ago. Not now.

Was very enjoyable following this series whilst actually in India. Have to say, despite all the flak stadium fans get for not applauding opposition players and everything, all the fans I ran into took this in very good humour. Maybe it's the away Tests thing but tbh the cricket still seemed like a fairly big deal. Oh and one kid even said Ballance was his favourite player now, even if he did only name him as "the guy who looks fat but isn't".
