But who captains?

Dhawan had to hand over his IPL side to Darren Sammy, and isn't a guaranteed selection.
Vijay doesn't strike me as a captain, but could be a dark horse.
Pujara isn't a captain
Kohli may not even be a lock in the side now, and still strikes me as too young/insolent for the job.
Rahane's not experienced enough
Jadeja's a troll
Ashwin might well be the frontrunner, but isn't always picked overseas.
Naman Ojha/Saha wouldn't have the Test experience to do it.
And let's ignore the quicks because they won't get it anyway.

At least England had a senior player in Ian Bell to throw it to if Cook did go. India doesn't even have that at the moment.

I saw this amongst Sky's punditry rammel and thought it legit, but now I can't actually find it backed up anywhere so it's possible they were being speculative

That's horrible reasoning

I don't think India or England have a chance in hell against Oz with Dhoni and Cook as their captains

As such, they have nothing to lose by appointing someone else
If a new captain takes over and gets hammered 4-0 straight away it's not exactly a no lose situation is it? Say they give it to Kohli (who I believe is current VC). It could work out well for both his form and India's performances, but say they lose the first test badly and start the second one badly, he's got no chance. I think Dhoni has to stay on until the end of the World Cup at least.

fmd, had forgotten the tour wasn't over yet. Don't really feel like watching them play for at least a couple of weeks.

International Coach
For all the talk of Dravid bossing it in 2011, I think it needs reminding that he was our batting consultant for this series. I don't blame him for keeping a low profile, but that's as good an indication as any that this team might be beyond salvaging no matter who coaches them.

Fire them all and reboot the team. India - The New 52.
