Lots of turn for day 1 session 1 as well judging by the Mustard LBW
Um, considering Bracewell managed to get Williamson free for the club I wouldn't complain. Gloucs obvs couldn't afford an overseas pro around that time so that was a pretty excellent pickup.Plus he seems to bend over backwards to accomodate NZ rather than doing what he should be doing and trying to create england players. Williamson was too young when we brought him in as overseas player; he lets Fuller return to NZ and play domestic cricket and always returns injured, Craig playing for our second team thiw week and today for our firsts playing instead of english spinner, Marshall continuing to keep his contract however average he is.
Pretty sure NZ got more out of the deal than Gloucestershire (or England). Williamson was for the most part average. He wasn't a draw in terms of crowd or general interest and it's doubtful at such a young age whether he helped positively influence the glos players. NZ got a player a year or so's experience of english conditions; glos got a player who wasn't really good enough the first year and didn't lead glos to any greater performances on the field whilst taking the place of an English player.Um, considering Bracewell managed to get Williamson free for the club I wouldn't complain. Michael Klinger, your overseas pro for the last two years averages 40 for Gloucestershire. The same amount the 'young and average' Kane Williamson managed during his one and abit years with the club. Difference, you're paying Klinger, you didn't Williamson. Without Bracewell you don't get that deal. Instead you're paying below average international cricketers like Ed Cowan to come over and play.Pretty sure NZ got more out of the deal than Gloucestershire (or England). Bracewell doesn't go anywhere without his favourite player. I'm convinced Hamish Marshall would still be a fixture in 2014 NZ if Bracewell was still the coach.Marshall continuing to keep his contract however average he is.
Never going to push for England selection and has a uni degree. Can't say I blame him -- as a 35-year-old ex-cricketer averaging high 20s over 150 FC games, you're a decade behind everyone else in career progression. So, Chris Jones retiring is a bit random...
