***Official*** English Domestic Season 2014

Another ton for Taylor, that's 2 unbeaten tons in 3 innings in OD cricket, found some pretty tasty form of late.

Hales continuing to impress too, he's really stepped his game up across all forms, and especially stepped up in FC cricket. Selectors must be beginning to find it difficult to ignore a guy who's been so successful in the International games he's played, is averaging 51 in FC cricket, 56 in OD cricket and continues to impress in T20. Almost getting to the point where I wouldn't be against them chucking him in to open in Tests in a Warner-esque role, can't do any worse than Robson. Lyth would probably go better at this stage of his career, but a bit of dynamism from Hales at the top of the order would be exciting to watch.

Nah, excitement is over-rated in Test Cricket. Even though I guess he's not that far off now.

I see James Taylor is trending on Twitter, wonder how many non-cricket-fans, read it and thought the other James Taylor had croaked.

Serves them right for not being cricket fans TBH.

How come England don't like James Taylor? He gets good press on CW by people who've seen him bat and scores lots of runs, but he can't even get in a test squad since his one or two games as injury cover or whatever way back.

I see Foakes has left Essex to Surrey according to Dobell (but neither team has actually announced at this point so possibly finalising details at this point). County news : Surrey tempt Foakes from Essex | Cricket News | England Domestic Season 2014 | ESPN Cricinfo

NOt a surprise Foakes left. Surprised he's gone to Surrey. I know Davies hasn't been keeping but Burns has been keeping a bit recently to go with Wilson so they aren't short of keeping talent. Maybe Davies isn't keeping again and Burns was deemed not good enough as reserve keeper.

Another talents leaves Essex tho. Good as Foster is I said at the time I'd have let him go when Hampshire came calling. Instead Hampshire took Wheater a year or so later. Now Foakes is gone.

Regarding WGidman. The local press seem to think that Durham have pulled out because they can't afford his wages. Seems like most of the first division have been mentioned in different press as interested in Will. Klinger wants to bring the crowds back | Western Daily Press

Really ridiculous that Foakes would go to Surrey of all places. Probably tempted with their thirty pieces of silver as much as a supposed wicket-keeping spot. Looks like bull****, smells like bull****... In all likelihood a rutting male bovine has just **** on your front lawn.

Money and living in London the big draw one would think.

Been a Titch Taylor fan for yonks, but it seems like the door is closed on him. I will say though if England are the disaster I think they will be at the next WC and a bloke with a list A average of 50 and a good SR isn't in the squad heads should roll.

Lyth would be my preference before Robson but Hales could be a great should as well.

Considering the way that panel after panel of selectors have managed the limited overs sides, since the dawn of time, I don't know why anyone would expect any radical changes anytime soon. England will continue to select teams and play cricket from a bygone era.

The thought of Cook, Bell and Ballance as the top three at the next world cup is stomach churning.

Can easily live in London and work in Chelmsford. I've done the opposite journey plenty of times. Money has to be the clincher here.
Yeah but you are then being paid to play/work in Chelmsford but spending London £ to live. You're right though money the biggest deal. I can't blame him for leaving as he isn't playing (though in Essex's defence he has hardly been setting the world on fire) but Surrey isn't a good move for him. Chris Read retiring at Notts would have been a nice opening for him.

yes it sounds like he's close to a deal with notts. I'm fine with that from his point. Glos ploughed a load of money into the ground to make improvements to get more internationals and 2019 cwc so the squad has suffered as a whole.

Just don't see why as we have no chance of promotion we're giving a game to Craig for presumably one game in preference to an english spinner. If you're looking to the future and not playing Will because he is leaving that's one thing but to then bring in Craig for one game kind of defeats the object of planning for the future.

Haha I don't follow CC enough perhaps, knew you followed Essex but not lived here. Are you still about in Chelmsford?

Regarding Foakes the word has been pretty strong for a while that he is off.

No, I'm not. I used to live in South Essex, worked in Chelmsford on occasions but regularly shuttled between London and Chelmsford. My brother lives in Chelmsford though and I always make a visit to the County Ground when I'm over in the UK.

Probably like me, he was pissed off with the Saj Mahmood signing.

Bracewell has always been a ****ing ****. He did his level best to wreck NZ when he was coach; certainly upset a lot of players. The only surprise to me in his coaching career at Gloucester is that he's lasted so bloody long.

He was great first time around. But rarely is it good to go back to someone for a second go. This time he's failed to improve really any of the players or bring any kind of serious results. tbf as I said there hasn't been a whole lot of money to improve the squad but the most of the current bunch have gone backwards.

Plus he seems to bend over backwards to accomodate NZ rather than doing what he should be doing and trying to create england players. Williamson was too young when we brought him in as overseas player; he lets Fuller return to NZ and play domestic cricket and always returns injured, Craig playing for our second team thiw week and today for our firsts playing instead of english spinner, Marshall continuing to keep his contract however average he is.

OUT! Jennings attempts to reverse sweep but chips into the air and brilliantly caught at short leg by Croft bowled Kerrigan! Durham 66/2.

Yes! Out caught reverse sweeping before lunch on the first day. I doubt that has happened very often.

Even a video to go with it,
