People complain about excessive appealing, but in the end this shows why, they went up for the other one massively, a weak ump like Billy gives it? They just ask a question politely, Bowden turns it down right away when if he'd given this one it would have been out.

Herath still causing plenty of issues on a completely unsuitable track
I disagree a bit, think the pitch is turning and at a decent pace and height, unlike Lords. It's not a bunsen, but if we had a class spinner we could exploit it, but.....

Reckon if the deliveries were swapped around it would have been given tbh

Nice partnership this one. Been impressed with Robson today. Never looks flustered, always under control, even when playing a big shot. Didn't have a good game at Lords, but I'll put that down to nerves. Been much better here.

these bowlers are ****ing ****.
Thought they kept a lid n things earlier, but we're seeing now that there's just no place for being unthreatening. These two now have all the license they need to get proactive and the bowlers are losing it as a result. Looks grim for the Sri Lankans from here.

Not sure why they continue to bring up this "turgid" top order thing. When England were at their best, we had Strauss, Cook and Trott at the top, they were hardly forcing the pace. In Test cricket I couldn't give a **** if they bat slightly slowly at the top so long as they're scoring runs. I'd take a bloke that bats slowly and averages 50, than some T20 slogger that gets a score away every now and then and averages <40.

Sri Lanka's dropping of Kulasekara is looking a worse decision by the over.

I didn't see the spell to Cook but I'd back myself to nick him off at the moment. Been watching for about an hour and there has been one threatening delivery.

Best thing is I know that Ballance at least rarely comes out blazing, he just seriously picks up as his innings goes on.

This is all well and good but we've seen over the last year that scoring slowly does bring problems wrt pressure, requirements to make a big score, bowlers taking effective control of the game situation etc

And it's a myth that England scored slowly at their best. Certainly they didn't blaze away, but they went at a perfectly decent pace at the top order.
