***Official*** Sri Lanka in England and Ireland 2014

If they really wanted to "look to the future" and still pick a pure 'keeper, everything I've heard about Michael Bates from Hampshire suggests he's an absolute gun with the gloves, if pretty mediocre with the bat.

I was about to say what a good start this was for SL, then Perera did that. Maybe because of Anderson's maiden for the previous over?

Sri Lanka well placed to post a pretty big total here, anything over 270 is going to be a huge chase for England.

Revising their total up to 300-320. Sad thought that England are going to think they need another bowler (maybe they do, I'm not sure) and bring in Ben Stokes. Not sold on him as a white ball player at all yet.

Cook's gotta bring back one of the quicks........this is all too easy for the Lankans atm.

Good man.

Edit:

Agree with KNight though, should give Jordan a slip.........we need wickets.

That should probably be a dead ball rather than a dot IMO. Root just trying to play the ball but he clearly took Dilshan out.

Think ambition rather got the better of Dilshan there. An attempted scoop to an 89.4mph yorker maybe not the best option.

Botham explaining to us that Kumar Sangakarra's first hundred at Lords is his highest score here. Really beef, thanks.

Bates is a freak of a keeper but would bat at 10 in the Test side

Tredwell another good spell 1-39, fast becoming one of our most reliable + useful ODI players.
It's amazing isn't it, keeps on performing, 50 wickets at 25 going at well under 5 an over.

Sometimes comms can be so old-fashioned, saying it was good for the Lankans to just pick off singles after Jimmeh's bad start to the over. That's fair enough in the middle-overs, but at the death with wickets in hand they should have been hoping for a really big over.

Which isn't necessarily a problem if they were going to pick Moeen-Prior-Stokes as the 6-7-8

Cook/Robson/Bell/Root/Ballance/Moeen/Stokes/Woakes/Broad/Bates/Anderson

Sub in whoever you want as the third seamer for Woakes; just chucked him in there because I cbf thinking about who to pick and I like him.
