Nothing like airing your dirty laundry in public. I bet he'll have all the top coaches queuing up for the job once Solskjaer gets the boot.

That Shaw bid is utter madness IMO.
Yet to be determined really. Could end up a Ferdinand/Rooney type signing where you have a top class mainstay for years. Then, it'll look like peanuts.

Congrats to DYCE and all City fans; deserved winners of the league.

It won't actually be £27m cash. Southampton will get ****ed over like they do whenever they sell a young player, and it'll be £5-10m + ludicrous clauses, especially when you consider that it's United that are doing the buying, so it won't end up costing them a lot if he does flop.
You realise Southampton are now a well established, Premier League club with a rich owner, not a cash strapped Championship/League One club, don't you?

So it's ****ing cretinous irritating over-hyped Whelan's club, against ridiculous over-hyped 'arrys side.

I think I want Wigan to win and then lose at Wembley. After all QPR have a whole bunch of *****, whilst it's only Whelan and the fact that Wigan aren't a football club that bother me about them.

Joey and 'arry still in Division 2 though, is still the funniest result, so c'mon Dave, I reckon you've got a great story about Wembley you've not hardly mentioned.

Yeah, the longer QPR and 'arry stay in the Champ the funnier it gets. Their wage bill is greater than two of the Champions League finalists in the last two years.

Rio's gone from Utd then.
Yeah, and interesting what Ikki said comparing him to Shaw. I do remember there being utter ridicule for Leeds, then United for buying him back then. I think for a world-record for a defender. Worked okay. Lampards transfer was probably even more ripped apart.

Who knows, is basically what I'm saying in a meandering and pointless fashion.

Yeah you never know and there is certainly the potential for £27m to be money very well spent if he does move to United.

This logic could be used to justify the transfer of any young player though. Obviously with hindsight there are a few that have turned out to be good but that doesn't mean this one will be.

Utter madness might have been overstating it tbf. Shaw has been, especially by the standards of an 18 year old, very impressive. I don't think he has been anywhere near £27m impressive though and I can't help but feel that if he wasn't English we would be looking at a price nowhere near that.

Oh, I know hence saying it's pointless, if it happens we'll know in about 10 years. I think it looks silly, but what do I know?

I think it's a decent signing, reasonable price considering his potential. We should be willing to pay more for young English players, because they won't just move to Madrid or Barca if they get any good.

Costa for 32m would be better though, even allowing for the fact that we need a LB more. He's a good enough player that you buy him if and when you can.

Only because the rest of the world would value him at a fraction of that figure and pay commensurate wages

What the hell are you talking about social?[/QUOT

Mate, it's pretty bloody simple

Any team outside England could buy a better player for less

Stating that he is worth the money because he wont go abroad is nonsense

Fact is that he wont get offered the same money so will stay home

What are you talking about? It's better to buy young English players because if they turn out to be the next Ronaldo they won't move to one of the big Spanish clubs. Unlike the actual Ronaldo. Or Fabregas.

I'm not sure what point you think you're responding to. It's like you read halfway through my sentence, got bored and didn't read the rest, then decided to comment anyway.

I'm not sure Shaw (ha) will even end up being an FB long term. He's more of a "footballer as athlete" type who happens to be playing there just now.

Bale was an LB when yer Spurts signed him, of course.

No discussion on the shocking axing of Sherwood?

Honestly it's the most surprised I've been since last time I opened Ban Announcements to see that either Sledger or Furball had been given timeout
