That may be Rafa's least deserving title ever. Nishikori outplayed him for a set and a half and then his body fell apart. Poor Nishi :(

rafa is looking very vulnerable heading into rome and paris…i guess that day had to come at some point, nothing is for ever…nole being injured is going to help him though and he could still end up winning both!

Yeah a fully fit Novak would be favourite for the French you'd imagine.

Nadal hasn't looked this dodgy since 2011 probably (and even then he was losing to Novak and no one else).

Perfect time for Stan to get back-to-back slams or for Federer to pinch another French. Pity Del Potro is injured.

Well Novak's not exactly in prime-form, and Murray is hopeless ATM. You really could think it could be an outsider, but who exactly?

After talking about the phallic nature of Sharapova's last trophy, the Madrid ones take the spiky dildoed biscuit.

Haha yeah I could not believe what the Madrid trophy looked like.

After Nadal lost to Ferrer a Monte Carlo, it looked like Novak was going to become favourite with the bookies, but then he lost to Federer and the news about the severity of his wrist injury came out.

The thing about picking outsiders over the last 5 years or so, whenever you mention them it seems stupid and unlikely until it actually happens and that player goes deep (e.g. Delpo, Soder (though he didn't win) and Stan). So the ones who could legitimately challenge are Stan (and do we even call him an outsider anymore?), Berdych (but we know he won't), Nishikori and perhaps Dimitrov. You probably have to say Ferrer too since he made the final last year, but I think his loss to an injury hampered Nishikori was not a good sign.

Maybe Novak's wrist will be okay by the time the French rolls around and if he gets some easy early matches he can get himself in some form. But personally, Federer at $23 is pretty tempting.

Have you had a look at the French draw yet? Who's your tips to be the 8 quarter-finalists?

I'll go:
Nadal
Ferrer
Wawrinka
Gasquet
Bautista-Agut
Gulbis
Nishikori
Djokovic

Nish vs. Klizan is a tough first round match though..

Why was Giraldo favourite against Seppi? Money for jam.. (which cricket commentator used that expression quite frequently)

My boi Jerzy into the second round.

Hasn't Seppi been really dire lately? And Giraldo made the final at Barcelona.

A lot of interesting contenders already knocked out so far. Looks like another Nadalovic final.....

I too laid Giraldo but he deserved to be favourite. Just not such a big favourite.

Laid Stanislas and Dimitrov too  Ya never know so early in the French when short-priced favourites are playing decent players who are capable on their day.
