Well yeah I mean you're not getting Luis Suarez. But he's a player you get a lot out of already and he hasn't reached his peak. Definitely would start him ahead of Giroud.

I hate it but I fully understand why he wants to leave. With Ferguson he always knew that if he deserved to play he'd get games, but Moyes invariably puts names ahead of performances. RVP and Rooney have both played disgracefully badly several times this season without ever losing their starting place, and Welbeck's been generally very good when they've been injured without ever keeping his place when they came back. With no CL football, which is where he really excels, it would be foolish of him to stay.

Needless to say, I hope that he does decide to stay.

Hernandez and RVP also might want to leave though if Moyes stays.

Hernandez will anyway probably.

Giroud, Morata, Welbeck and Sanogo wouldn't be the worst four strikers for next season, which is what a lot of the talk is. I'd rather a top top quality striker though, obviously.
You missed out Bendtner. How dare you miss out the greatest striker in europe in his own head.

Random question and scenario. I recently learned that next seasons Europa League winners get a CL place. So, scenario

1. City
2. Liverpool
3. Arsenal
4. Everton
5. Chavs
6. Spurs
7. Man U

CL winners - Chavs
Europa winners - Man U

In this scenario am I right in thinking Arsenal would miss out on a CL place? Have just plonked the teams randomly really just for the purpose of the example
That's weird...I would assume they waived the 4 teams per country rule, but maybe they can't actually do that because 5 teams from a country would **** with TV as three teams per country would kick off at the same time?

I dunno, to me it doesn't make sense to abandon the 4 team rule for a Europa League win but not Champions League. But then I don't understand why Hull only qualify as runners up if Arsenal are in the CL but not the Europa. I'm sure there are reasons behind all of it, but.

Not taking Rooney to the World Cup is madness IMO. Yeah he's overrated but the backlash is such that among some people he's actually become underrated.

Welbeck is a more interesting case. I never used to rate him at all but I have warmed to him a bit this year, and by and large he hasn't been one of the bigger culprits for our fall in the league table.

The irony with De Gea is this hasn't been his best season and yet everyone is talking him up now. In fact tbh I think it's been his worst season since he has signed. He's been clearly at fault more times this year than he has either of his two previous years. Sure his faults tended to be more glaring in 11/12, but that's fairly meaningless. A fault as a goalkeeper costs a goal, however glaring or otherwise it is.

I still rate De Gea, I just think the media circus about his struggles in his first season was probably the most out of proportion I can remember in football, certainly about United anyway. He is a decent/good keeper, but then he was two years ago as well.

I'm not really sure anyone is saying Rooney shouldn't go. It's just a shame his form has got worse and worse as we're heading into the Tourney. If it is his foot, could Moyes just ****ing rest him pleases, he's clearly not doing owt for you, and he'll be totally ****ed for the EC at this rate.

The stuff earlier about fans of Liverpool/Chelsea etc is some of the most baseless stuff on both sides of the argument IMO.

Human beings are basically the same (on average), especially if they are in the same country/culture. Obviously you see it a lot, one person chalking up another set of fans as ****s (or, rarely, chalking them up as a good set of fans), but it's always based on such a small sample size it means nothing. I know two Liverpool fans well for instance. One of them texted me the other day rambling about how they are a "paragon of courage", and the other whatsapps me saying "BOOM" whenever they score, but attacking all Liverpool would still be baseless. It perplexes me however how anyone can make sweeping statements about fans of other clubs (for good or bad) based on what is always going to be a small sample size.

Annoyingly probably the best example I can think of as to how all fans are the same is United fans. For 20 years we have laughed at how Liverpool fans were stuck in the past (tbf they were), but as soon as the boot is on the other foot, our fans (apparently without irony) have become so similar to that that to me it almost seems like a parody.

Both Uppercut and Sledger at the very least suggested it. I mean I agree with the point of view that the English media just praise him whatever he does and that actually a lot of the time he is pretty poor. I just think that he is still the best that England have and that not taking him is far too far. He is a good player, just not world class.

Yeah, fair point. But not sure what they'll have thought, because it's a fairly decent chance the winner will be from one of the countries with 4 teams anyway (and if it isn't, then it's probably a Porto-like subscription champion from a smaller country)

I guess there's logic that a Champions League winner is usually top four anyway, but a Europa winner may not be?

Not to be a broken record but I personally believe that the holders spot in the CL should be a free one, and whichever country they are from get an extra place regardless of where they have finished in the league.

Would personally extend that logic to Europa League winners but doubt UEFA will see it that way
