How much you relying on all-rounders/part-timers? Don't like it.Martin Guptill
Kane Williamson
Brendon McCullum
Ross Taylor
Anton Devcich
Colin Munro
Corey Anderson
Luke Ronchi
James Neesham
Nathan McCullum
Mitchell McClenaghan
Also short on "proper" bowlers.
It's a valid criticism.How much you relying on all-rounders/part-timers? Don't like it.
Good on you for taking the feedback on the chin. It's a valid criticism.
I just don't think our specialist seamers are going to be that effective on sub-continent pitches, so I'm backing our batting to get the job done.

I wonder if Boult will crack the starting lineup. It is good to see so much depth.lol worcestershire 52 all out. Not much of a game.
@BLACKCAPS vs Derbyshire | Guptill, Williamson, Munro, Anderson, Ronchi, Neesham, N.McCullum, Devcich, Southee, Hira, McClenaghan
Why is Neesham at 9?Yup, you still have to play Southee. I mean, surely he'd be better than Neesham as a pure bowler, so what's the use of having Neesham at 9?
So yeah they tried Anderson as high as 3 overnight, Munro, Ronchi, Neesham at 6 (his successful Champions League position), then NcCullum at 7.WICKET! Footitt clean bowls Neesham with a perfect yorker. @BLACKCAPS 135-5 (17.5). N.McCullum the new man
There are two official warmup games next week, against Pakistan and Australia.
Hesson said as the Pakistani game was understood to be televised New Zealand would likely play a straight XI, but against Australia, who are keen to use all 15 players, New Zealand might use 12.
Agree it's not the most desirable but there's not much alternative to that succession of hit-out-or-get-out players from number 5 down. Not unless we want to push one of our 'real' batsmen (Williamson, McCullum, Taylor) down to five. Only other option I could think of would be that subcontinental low 'n' slow specialist, brutaliser of sub-par bowlers of half-volleys and renowned less-than-cool head in difficult situations, James Franklin. Did an ok job for us in the last T20 WC tbf. However we're still probably better off with the Munro/Devcich, Anderson, Ronchi, Neesham progression - they're hitters but not without nuance - and rolling the dice seems as good a strategy as any.Yeah, when I'm looking to pace a chase and avoid a collapse, the guy I don't want to be heading out there and gumming up the works at 60/3 is Devcich. Because then at 70/4, I don't want Munro. And at 80/5, I don't want Corey. And at 90/6, I don't want Ronchi.
Why because he can build an inning better? Or do you just think he is a better player?Ronchi should bat ahead of Anderson and Neesham.
Both really. Why because he can build an inning better? Or do you just think he is a better player?
